The View honors Ana Navarro with flair, drag performers, and criticism of DeSantis
The View Throws a Fabulous Birthday Bash for Ana Navarro
The View pulled out all the stops to celebrate host Ana Navarro’s belated 52nd birthday. The party was a glamorous affair filled with decadence, drag queens, and plenty of DeSantis bashing.
Drag Queens Take Center Stage
Joining the hosts of The View were drag queens from the renowned R House in Miami. Known for their ongoing battle against Gov. Ron DeSantis, these queens brought their fierce energy to the celebration. The importance of drag was a hot topic of discussion throughout the event.
“There’s no one that’s out of place at a drag show. It does feel so inclusive, which I love,” exclaimed host Sara Haines. “But, the R House is located in Miami, which is under the state rule of Gov. DeSantis, and I know he’s really come for drag shows and LGBT-plus communities.”
“And our shoes, too,” chimed in one of the fabulous drag queens.
Curious about the significance of drag in today’s world, Haines asked, “Why is it so important, now more than ever, to keep performing?”
The drag queen who had mentioned DeSantis’s footwear stepped forward to provide an answer. “Well, let me tell you something. The arts saves lives. Can I get an amen?” he exclaimed. “Drag shows bring people together. When you come to our show, you leave your problems at the door. You leave whatever the governor said at the door, whatever the president said at the door.”
“You don’t want to hear about them at our show,” he added. “You come to our show to hear Cher, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and have a good time.”
According to the performer, it doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from. Everyone at a drag show is there to celebrate the art and talent that drag queens provide.
“It’s a place where people come together,” he emphasized. “It’s really magic.”
Host Joy Behar couldn’t resist bringing up DeSantis’s wardrobe, asking, “Do you think that maybe DeSantis secretly wants to get dressed up in lady’s clothes? Is that possible?”
“Well, he has my number… So, I don’t know,” replied the drag queen with a mischievous smile.
Navarro then took a swing at the governor and GOP presidential hopeful for his clash with R House.
“I think it’s really important that we understand that it’s not that DeSantis went after LGBTQ and drag. He went after the R House. In specific, he tried to shut them down for over a year,” she passionately stated.
“They’ve been attacked. They’ve been targeted. They’ve been terrorized. They’ve spent a fortune in legal fees, and, so, you know what, the drag queens survived, and his campaign is dead.”
It was a night of celebration, empowerment, and standing up against adversity. The View’s birthday bash for Ana Navarro will be remembered as a glittering tribute to the resilience and artistry of drag queens.
