Texas congressmen have introduced a measure that aims to help farmers whose properties have been damaged by illegal immigrants. Republican August Pfluger proposed the bill on Friday, which looks to allocate $300 million in unused COVID relief funds to farmers who have felt the brunt of the border crisis.

Farmers have accrued damages, including livestock loss, crop loss, perimeter fence replacements, defacement to physical structures and property loss.

Pfluger was joined by fellow Texas Republican Tony Gonzalez, as well as Texas Democrats Henry Cuellar and Vincente Gonzalez. Gonzalez notably said Texans should not be responsible for bearing the costs of Joe Biden’s border crisis.
