Tennessee Teacher Allegedly Mocks Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

The article reports on the backlash following the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk. A Tennessee high school science teacher, Emily Orbison, faced criticism for posting on social media a message that appeared to mock Kirk’s murder, calling it “rational” and “prudent,” referencing Kirk’s own acceptance of some gun deaths as a trade-off for Second amendment rights. Orbison, a bioSTEM teacher and reportedly the granddaughter of musician Roy Orbison, also expressed anger over Kirk’s remarks about women and described the trauma of school shooting drills she must endure.

Despite requests, school officials and the district superintendent did not comment on Orbison’s post, which manny consider insensitive and hateful, especially toward Christian and conservative students and families. The article also highlights similar incidents nationwide, where several educators have been disciplined or fired for making callous or celebratory comments about Kirk’s death. These cases reflect ongoing tensions around political and social divisions in educational settings.

In contrast, Erika Kirk, Charlie’s wife, delivered an emotional tribute reaffirming commitment to her husband’s legacy and cause, promising that his movement and voice will continue strong. The piece underscores the contentious and deeply polarizing climate following the tragedy.

As Charlie Kirk’s family prepares to lay to rest the 31-year-old conservative icon, a Tennessee school science teacher has removed her social media post viciously mocking Kirk’s assassination as “rational.”

Sources tell The Federalist that Franklin High School science teacher Emily Orbison posted a hateful screed about Kirk, justifying the Turning Point USA founder’s cold-blooded murder as “prudent”.

“Guess there wasn’t a good guy with a gun there. Shame,” Orbison sneeringly wrote in an Instagram post screenshot obtained by The Federalist. “Don’t mourn his death. It’s just the price of doing business. Completely rational.”

‘My Blood is Boiling’

Orbison, reportedly the granddaughter of rock & roll legend Roy Orbison, in her Instagram rant highlighted a quote from the Second Amendment defender in which Kirk said, “It’s worth to have, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God given rights. That’s a prudent deal. That’s rational.”

Orbison, a bioSTEM teacher at Franklin High, sardonically wrote that it is “prudent” that she should have to go through regular school shooting drills and “Reassure kids that when we get shot at, I will be there to protect them.”

“That we do not immediately leave the building if a fire alarm goes off, because that’s how shooters can get us into the hallways to kill us,” Orbison wrote.

“and don’t even get me STARTED on the vile things this POS has said about women. my blood is boiling just recalling them,” the teacher raged.

In an email response to The Federalist’s questions, Orbison wrote, “You do not have permission to share a post from my private instagram account. Best Mrs. Orbison.”

Franklin High School Principal Shane Pantall did not return The Federalist’s multiple requests for comment, nor did other administrators at the high school. Williamson County School Superintendent Jason Golden also did not respond to an email asking whether Orbison’s social media post might well be viewed as insensitive and hateful by the Kirk family and so many others who knew him?

“Do you think students, especially Christian and conservative students and their families, might feel concerned that a taxpayer-funded teacher is praising the assassination of a top Christian leader in America?” The Federalist asked.

The Federalist also reached out to Williamson County School Board members.

Teaching Hate

Several educators across the country have been disciplined for some horrific posts about Kirk in the wake of his shocking assassination while speaking this week at Utah Valley University. Two faculty members at East Tennessee State University were placed on administrative review after reportedly writing celebratory posts about Kirk’s murder. NBC News reported that one faculty member allegedly wrote, “you reap what you sow.” Another allegedly wrote, “This isn’t a tragedy. It’s a victory.”

Middle Tennessee State University President Sidney A. McPhee wrote in a statement that an employee who “worked in a position of trust directly with students,” has been fired after making “inappropriate and callous comments on social media concerning the horrific and tragic murder of Charlie Kirk.”

At least two teachers in Iowa have been placed on administrative leave for callous comments they allegedly posted. KCRG in Cedar Rapids reported that a teacher in the Creston School District wrote, “I do not wish death upon anyone but he him [sic] not being here is a blessing.”

Wynne Boliek, a Greenville, S.C. high school social studies teacher, is now unemployed after posting on Facebook, “Thoughts and prayers to his children but IMHO [in my honest opinion] America became greater today. There I said it.”

“We have concluded our investigation of the matter and confirmed the inappropriate message was written by Mr. Boliek. He is no longer employed with Greenville County Schools,” the school district announced in a statement. “We strongly condemn the message shared by the former employee as it does not reflect the standards we expect of our staff. We remain committed to upholding the values of professionalism and respect for our students, families, colleagues, and community.”

Erika Kirk, wife of the slain conservative civil rights leader and their two young children, addressed the nation Saturday evening in a heartbreaking tribute.

“To everyone listening tonight across America, the movement my husband built will not die,” she said through tears. “It won’t. I refuse to let that happen. … No one will ever forget my husband’s name. And I will make sure of it. It will become stronger. Bolder. Louder and greater than ever. My husband’s mission will not end. Not even for a moment.

“My husband’s voice will remain, and it will ring out louder and more clearly than ever. And his wisdom will endure.”
