Ted Cruz predicts Supreme Court will favor Trump on Colorado ballot

Sen. ‌Ted Cruz Believes Trump Will Prevail at Supreme Court

In a recent episode of his engaging “Verdict” podcast, Sen.‌ Ted Cruz (R-TX) expressed his confidence that former President Donald Trump will emerge victorious at the‍ U.S. Supreme ‍Court ‍and retain his place on the Colorado ballot. Cruz highlighted the fact that Trump has not been ⁢charged with insurrection in the two criminal cases ⁣related to his ‌alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.

Discussing the Supreme Court’s decision to hear the case following the⁢ Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling that Trump committed insurrection on ‍January‍ 6 and was therefore ineligible for office, Cruz shared his belief that the court will explicitly state in its opinion that it does⁢ not express⁤ an opinion on whether an⁣ insurrection occurred on that day.

Cruz acknowledged that Trump faces multiple criminal indictments, but emphasized that ⁣despite the perception that prosecutors are⁢ targeting Trump, he has not been ‌indicted ⁤for insurrection ⁢anywhere. Cruz pointed ‍out that even in the highly liberal⁣ environment of Washington, ⁣D.C., with a predominantly Democratic jury pool, Trump⁢ has not been charged with insurrection because there is no substantial evidence to support such ⁢a claim.

According to Cruz, Trump’s actions, including‌ his tweets and speech urging peaceful protests, cannot be⁤ legally construed as insurrection. He ‍asserted that the ⁤absence of any charges related to insurrection ‌against Trump is due ⁣to the fact that it would not pass the laugh test in a court of law.
