San Francisco’s Guaranteed Income Program for Pregnant Black Women to Expand Across California

A guaranteed income program that provides monthly checks to Black pregnant women in San Francisco will expand to other counties in California.

The Abundant Birth Project began in June 2021 to serve pregnant women with $1,000 monthly payments over 12 months to 150 people. The program is intended to “reduce the racial birth disparities by easing economic stress.”

On Tuesday, San Francisco’s Department of Public Health announced a $5 million grant in state funding to expand the program in Alameda, Contra Costa, Los Angeles and Riverside counties for the next two to three years.

It will serve another 425 mothers and “other birthing parents” with funds from the California Department of Social Services, the city said.

“This guaranteed income program helps ease some of the financial burdens that all too often keep mothers from being able to prioritize their own health and ultimately impact the health of their babies and family,” San Francisco Mayor London Breed said in a statement. “We hope the Abundant Birth Project serves as a model to address racial birth disparities throughout the region and state, and across the country.”

San Francisco launched the first Abundant Birth Project in partnership with Expecting Justice, which advocates for safe births for Black, Asian American and Pacific Islander women.

The city noted that Black women are twice as likely to have a preterm birth than White women and experience the highest infant and maternal mortality rates because of wealth and income disparities.

“For so long, Black women have been excluded from the resources needed to have safe and healthy pregnancies. This funding will provide pregnant people with economic stability during this critical phase in their lives while allowing public health institutions to test a novel and promising public health intervention,” said Dr. Zea Malawa, director of Expecting Justice.

San Francisco recently launched another guaranteed income program for transgender residents. The program will provide low-income transgender residents with payments of up to $1,200 each month for up to 18 months.

Film Fans Roast Jennifer Lawrence After She Falsely Claims Hollywood Never Put Women in the Lead of Action Films Before “The Hunger Games”

Jennifer Lawrence is known for her migraine inducing moronic hot takes as well as a few Hunger Games movies but her recent comments about female led action franchises may have been her dumbest take to date, which is saying a lot.

The Hunger Games actress had taken a short break from acting over the last few years to save ‘Democracy‘ but Lawrence is back with a vengeance with some statements that are driving cinema fans up a wall.

Lawrence recently did a sit down interview with Viola Davis, star of The Woman King, a film that blatantly whitewashes the real life history of the West African kingdom of Dahomey, one of the most prominent slave trading states of their era and attempts to lionize them as anti-colonial heroes who fought against enslavement and oppression.

According to History vs Hollywood, The Dahomey warriors conducted slave raids on villages with accounts detailing, “They cut the heads off of the elderly and rip the bottom jaw bones off others.

“During the raids, they’d burn the villages to the ground. Those who they let live, including the children, were taken captive and sold as slaves,” the outlet adds.

But according to Jennifer Lawrence, because of it’s black female representation, The Woman King is the best movie of 2022.

“I think that The Woman King is the best movie I’ve seen this year, hands down, and the best movie I’ve seen in so long,” Lawrence stated

But that comment wasn’t the dumbest thing that Lawrence said in the interview. While discussing The Woman King and The Hunger Games franchise, Lawrence made the blatantly false claim that Hollywood had ever put a woman in the lead of an action movie before 2012.

    This isn’t a bit.

TORONTO, ONTARIO – SEPTEMBER 10: Jennifer Lawrence, Producer, attends the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival world premiere of “Causeway” at Royal Alexandra Theatre. “Causeway” premieres globally on Apple TV+ on November 4, 2022.

Lawrence, who earlier this year claimed to be a victim of sexism because she was paid $5 million less ($25 million) than Leonardo DiCipaio for the Netflix film, Don’t Look Up told Davis, “Nobody had ever put a woman in the lead of an action movie because it wouldn’t work. We were told girls and boys can both identify with a male lead, but boys cannot identify with a female lead.”

She continued, “And it just makes me so happy every single time I see a movie come out that just blows through every single one of those beliefs, and proves that it is just a lie to keep certain people out of the movies. To keep certain people in the same positions that they’ve always been in. It’s just amazing to watch it happen, and watch you at the helm. ”

    Where to begin?

The claim that Hollywood didn’t have action films with female leads before Katniss Evendeen is so absurd only someone who knows nothing about movie history would pretend it is true. When Lawrence’s comments made it’s way into Film Twitter, she was bombarded with replies of people pointing out decades worth of female lead action films.

Twitter user Steven Simmons brutally debunked Lawrence’s notion in a series of tweets naming female led movies.

He wrote, “Alien, Aliens, Terminator 1 & 2, Long Kiss Good Night, Resident Evil (5 by that), La Femme Nikita, Kill Bill vol 1 & 2, Underworld franchise (4 by that time), Charlies Angels 1 & 2, Tomb Raider 1 & 2, V for Vendetta, GI Jane, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Cutthroat Island, Salt.”

He didn’t stop there. He continued, “Columbiana, Haywire, Hanna, Wanted, Run Lola Run, The Fifth Element, Serenity, Brave, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, Alien vs Predator, Alien vs Predator 2, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Descent, Point of No Return, Aeon Flux, Bad Girls, Foxy Brown, Death Proof, Sucker Punch, Elektra, Coffy, River Wild.”

Still, he continued, “Ultraviolet, Planet Terror, Prometheus, Bloodrayne, The Brave One, Snow White and the Huntsman, Lady Snowblood, Bandidas, Momentum, Catwoman, Panic, Mortal Kombat.”

He then noted, “All of these films I’ve listed are before Hunger Games and star women…”

TheCinemaSoothsayer also debunked Lawrence’s narrative with a list of actresses who are best known for their roles in action franchises.

The Twitter user wrote, “Sigourney Weaver, Jane Fonda, Geena Davis, Angelina Jolie, Milla Jovovich, Kate Beckinsale, Charlize Theron.”

“I swear they don’t even know the history of the their own business they just say things,” the user added.

CodenomicsACTL tweeted, “‘Nobody had ever put a woman in the lead of an action movie,’ Tell me more about how you have never seen a movie that was made before you became an actor! I mean… Seriously?! Pam Grier? Sigourney Weaver? Carrie Fisher? Jamie Lee Curtis? Linda Hamilton? Shall I continue?!

David Leavitt tweeted, “Jennifer Lawrence proclaiming she was the first woman to ever be the lead in an action movie… Clearly she never saw Sigourney Weaver’s Alien franchise”

Noam Blum wrote, “People like Jennifer Lawrence can’t make due with being a gigantic Oscar-winning star. She has to feel like she did something no one else ever did before, and by golly, she will invent something like that if it’s the last thing she does.”

Tim Young questioned, “Soooo is Jennifer Lawrence super dumb or completely ignorant?”

    Tim Young Twitter

FreedSamurai tweeted a list of characters that includes: Ripley, Sarah Connor, Princess Leia, Wonder Woman, and Furiosa.

The user also shared a clip of two men where one states, “Actors are stupid, people. They’re not smart. Very few of them are intelligent. And the ones that are intelligent are much, much older. Young actors are — and we know many of them — they are insanely dumb to where it’s noticeable.”

The man then questioned, “Have you ever been with someone that’s so dumb it’s noticeable? When you look at someone else as if in to be in disbelief at what this person is doing?

Jennifer’s recent comments is another footnote in the long list of stupid comments she has made in the last few years. Earlier this year, Lawrence threw her own parents under the bus implying they support Nazis because of their conservative political beliefs.

She was asked by Variety’s Karen Valby if  her parents had forgiven her for being a liberal. Lawrence replied, “I don’t know. I don’t really know.” When asked if she had forgiven her parents, she answered, “Yeah. I mean…. No, there were certain things, in the Trump presidency, there are certain things that happened over the last five years that are unforgivable.”

“And it’s been wild. It’s wild to disagree on things you thought you would never…there’s no way we’re going to disagree on this in 2021. White supremacy. Attacking the Capitol. Nazis being the bad guys. Or just, science. I don’t know,” she stated.

Jennifer Lawrence in Don’t Look Up

In an October 2020 appearance on comedian Heather McMahan’s Absolutely Not podcast, Lawrence put forth the unfounded claim, “When Donald Trump got elected, that just changed everything. This is an impeached president whose broken many laws and has refused to condemn white supremacy, and it feels like there has been a line drawn in the sand.”

She added, “I don’t want to support a president who supports white supremacists.”

In 2017, Lawrence claimed in an interview that hurricanes were nature’s wrathful response to the election of Donald Trump.

“It is proven through science that human activity, the climate change is due to human activity and we continue to ignore it and the only voice that we really have is through voting and we voted and it was really startling. You are watching these hurricanes now and it is really hard while especially while promoting this movie not to feel Mother Nature’s rage or wrath.”

Women Slam Biden For Alleged ‘Sexist’ Comment Made Toward Registered Nurse

President Joe Biden faced backlash for a comment that he made on Monday to a nurse during a virtual tour of a vaccination site in Glendale, Arizona.

“Biden had an awkward, flirty moment Monday during a video conference event with health care workers in Arizona, during which he stopped to compliment one nurse for her youthful appearance — even gushing that she looks ‘like a freshman,’” The New York Post reported. “Biden got up to some of his ‘creepy’ old antics when he responded to the nursing supervisor’s detailed description of giving COVID-19 shots by asking her about her age.”

Biden made the remarks during the following exchange with registered nurse Brittney Hayes:

Biden’s remarks sparked backlash online from critics who said that they thought his comments were sexist.

Nicole Saphier, MD, tweeted: “Women in health care are no stranger to sexists comments made my men, especially those in superior positions.”

Policy analyst Ana Rosa Quintana wrote: “What professional woman wants to be infantilized like a receptionist on Mad Men…”

MS. HAYES: Hi, I’m Brittney Hayes. I’m with Arizona State University. I’m the head charge nurse here at the vaccination pod at State Farm Stadium.

So I’m just going to walk you guys through the process.

Let’s see — I have 10 lanes here at the vaccination pod. I have three people in charge of each lane. I have a data verification person; they are in charge of entering and charting in the vaccine management system.

Once the cars are all checked in, then they come through to the tent, where I have a vaccinator and I have a clinical assist. My clinical assist is in charge of safety. They’ll ensure that the car comes in, puts the car in park, all the windows are down, my car is turned off, and then they’ll write the time on the windshield of when they entered that pod.

And then my vaccinator: My vaccinator is the first clinical person that a patron sees as they come through. And they are in charge of an assessment — pretty much looking for if there are people ill, if we have allergies, anything that we need to note so we can know if they need to stay for 15 to 30 minutes, if they’re eligible for the vaccine. And they ensure — they are (inaudible) to give the vaccine using the proper technique and safety.

So safety is a big — big part of what I’m in charge of here, ensuring that sharps containers are used properly, PPE equipment is used properly as well; infection control risks — ensuring that we are giving the vaccines through the car-door windows if we can; and then in charge of contraindications to the vaccine.

So, some of the challenges that I have endured here — as you know, this is a big operation: We have a mix of volunteers and staff, so just making the process as simple as possible. So somebody can come in not knowing anything about what we’re doing, and then training them as easily as possible and getting them to work an eight-hour shift safely and effectively.

And I think we have really narrowed it down here at my vaccination station to where we do a huddle, they are given their pertinent information, and then they are trained by the previous staff.

And then, as far as other challenges, we are a 24/7 site, so the no production has been a challenge for me. So we have to implement things on the fly and how we communicate that with 50 people that are working your site. So I have dedicated leadership staff that are here and help me with anything I need, and they are wonderful, and their dedication is greatly, greatly appreciated.

And then, as far as some of the successes, I mean, we’re vaccinating one vaccine per 10 seconds, so I feel like that is very impressive, and we are giving people hope — giving volunteers and staff purpose. And then, feeling united. This has been a long year, and I’m just thrilled that we can give that unity back.

    Back to you.

THE PRESIDENT: We’re really proud of you.

MS. HAYES: Thank you. Thank you, sir.

THE PRESIDENT: No, I really mean it.

Tell me about the number of volunteers. Are these pure volunteers? Do they get per diem or are they pure volunteers?

MS. HAYES: (Inaudible) for our volunteers. I’m not exactly sure everything that goes into that process, but over 50 percent of probably what is on my vaccination pods here are volunteers. All of our datafication people are volunteers.

THE PRESIDENT: And when someone comes through in a vehicle, do they have to demonstrate proof of eligibility or have they also been cleared before they get to that tent?

MS. HAYES: That’s what I’m for — the charge nurse. I have dedicated that to them to make that decision. If they have allergies or something along those lines — immunocompromised, if they had COVID and had the convalescent plasma — that’s my job to dig a little deeper than what the assessment of the vaccinator is and to really see that they are eligible, because I want to give the vaccine to everybody possible.

THE PRESIDENT: Now, in Arizona, what is the age eligibility for coming through that tent?

MS. HAYES: So we are — since we are doing the Pfizer vaccine, it is 16 and over, but the 16 and over have to be — the appointment needs to be made online. If they are a walk-in, it does have to be 18 or older due to them just being minors.

THE PRESIDENT: Right. And what do you hear from the folks coming through that get the vaccine — that actually get the shot in their arm? What are the kind of things you most often hear from them or your — your volunteers hear?

    S. HAYES: They’re amaz- — yeah, no. I’m sorry. They’re amazed by the process, the smoothness. I hear that a lot. I hear a lot of other touching stories, you know, that people have gone through due to COVID. And, you know, they’re here, and really we’re instilling hope. A “dose of hope” is what I’ve been calling it. I’ve heard a — yeah, but the smoothness of the process is what I hear most.

THE PRESIDENT: Last question I have: How can we best support you and other frontline workers?

MS. HAYES: That’s a great question. So, the collaboration that I have with FEMA, all of the other state — everybody that I’ve partnered with here, I get nothing but the utmost support and it’s been amazing to collaborate with everybody. They check in. If I need something, it’s done. They know that I’m trying to do everything to make this safe and efficient. So, support. Yeah.

THE PRESIDENT: Are you a freshman at the university?

    MS. HAYES: No. No. No.

THE PRESIDENT: You look like a freshman.

    MS. HAYES: Why, thank you.

HE PRESIDENT: Well, no, thank you for what you’re doing. It really matters. As I said to the Doc last — a few moments ago, Dr. Christ, we — we committed when we got in that — we were short on vaccines and short on organization, and — when we got sworn in. And we committed to do 100 million vaccinations in the first 100 days, and we’re — we’re exceeding that. With the grace of God, the goodwill of the neighbors, and help of people like you, we’re going to end up doing more than that. So, thank you for what you’re doing. You’re saving people’s lives.

MS. HAYES: Absolutely. And I’m more than happy to be here.

THE PRESIDENT: I’m going to turn it over to the Vice President. She’s got the tough questions.

    MS. HAYES: Oh, okay.

Women Shouldn’t Accept Third Place In A Race They Won

Through an Executive Order signed on his first day in office, President Biden is now asking women across America to step aside and let biological males win their races, take their spots on competitive teams, and erase everything they have worked and trained for, all in the pursuit of “fairness, equity and justice.”

In effect, Biden is asking women and girls to be gracious and smile politely from the sidelines as they accept third, fourth or fifth place as biological males dominate the competition, sweeping up girls athletic state championships and college scholarships.

This is exactly what has happened in Connecticut, where two biologically male runners brought home 15 women’s state championship titles between 2017 and 2019.

Speaking with Fox News, female high school track star Selina Soule condemned the “continued unfairness” of the policy which allows “transgender high school athletes to compete without restrictions.”

“I lost out on countless opportunities to get placements, get titles, and qualify for further meets to display my talents to college coaches,” she said.

Soule is among three female Connecticut athletes and their mothers, who are now fighting in the courts for the right to compete fairly in athletic events. Biden’s executive order makes this fight harder, with more states likely to follow Connecticut’s ignominious lead.

Those girls, who have trained, sacrificed and excelled, should have emerged as girls track champions. Instead, they have been sidelined by the biological males who beat them to the finish line.

Women should not be relegated to clapping politely from the bench while biological males pump their fists in victory at the finish line.

Given that Democrats claim to be the party of science, the following scientific facts seem relevant when arguing that biological differences exist, and that such differences provide one sex with a physical advantage over the other.

    1. Generally, male athletes have longer and larger bones, giving them a significant advantage over female athletes. The greater articular surface and structural mass of male bones provide men with the advantages of both increased leverage and a larger frame to support muscle.

    2. Likewise, female ligaments are more lax and fragile than those of males, giving male athletes an edge in most sports, especially those that involve throwing, kicking and striking. The disparity in ligament and tendon strength also results in a higher incidence of musculoskeletal injuries among female athletes.

    3. The ratio of muscle mass to body weight is higher in males, which provides greater speed and acceleration. This explains why women’s speed records in swimming and running are consistently slower than those of men, and why, on average, women have two thirds of the strength of men.

For example, the fastest female sprinter in the world, Allyson Felix, has a lifetime best of 49.26 seconds in the 400 meter run. Based on 2018 data, nearly 300 high school boys in the US alone could beat that time. Given such biological disparity, any form of physical competition between males and females is demonstrably unfair.

Some transgender advocates insist that hormone therapy erases the physical advantages of male athletes. Hogwash. Hormone therapy cannot and does not magically decrease the size of a male’s larger and longer bones, his larger and stronger tendons, nor his larger heart and lung capacity.

While estrogen therapy can increase fat and decrease muscle mass in men, a study of males transitioning into females at Sweden’s Karolinska Institute found that even after one year of testosterone suppression, transgender women showed only a 5% loss of muscle mass, with markers such as muscle strength, size, and composition still significantly greater for transgender women over biological women. Not to mention that many transgender women aren’t even required to prove that they are taking testosterone blockers — just the fact that they identify as a woman is enough to get them a spot on the girls team.

Despite the usual accusations, such views have nothing to do with discrimination or antipathy. For example, there should be no concern regarding transgender males competing with biological males, as they have no unfair physical advantages.

We should never disparage anyone’s right to live freely and authentically as they choose, as long as it doesn’t infringe on anyone else’s rights or opportunities.

But by allowing biological males to compete against females, the rights of women and girls to fair and safe competition are being dangerously infringed upon. Female athletes shouldn’t be lectured about “empathy” or “fairness” as they watch biological men shatter athletic records in women’s cycling, weightlifting and track and field.

This nonsensical reality will only get worse as the media slavishly lauds transgender athletes as brave and heroic victims of injustice, featuring them on the covers of national magazines and fawning television interviews.

Where is the empathy for the young women who have devoted their lives to athletic training, only to see their hopes and dreams unfairly dashed? Indeed, the response is usually quite the opposite: women and girls who speak up for their rights in sports are often maligned as selfish, hateful, or worse. It has been disheartening to see tennis legend Martina Navratilova and author J.K. Rowling trashed as bigots for daring to recognize the obvious unfairness to women athletes and openly name it as such.

In the words of the young Connecticut athlete Selina Soule, “It’s very frustrating and heartbreaking when us girls are at the start of the race and we already know that these athletes are going to come out and win no matter how hard you try.” It’s past time for feminists to stand up and say that girls shouldn’t be bullied into accepting third place in races they’ve won.
