(Reuters) – According to Spanish online travel booking company eDreams ODIGEO (EDRE.MC), Taylor Swift fans, also known as ‘Swifties’, are causing a surge in air travel demand in Europe as they follow their idol’s ‘Eras’ tour from May to August.
Demand for flights to Stockholm during Swift’s performance on May 17-19 has increased six-fold compared to the same period last year, eDreams reported. Similarly, demand for flights to Warsaw, Edinburgh, Liverpool, and Paris during Swift’s concerts has jumped by 339%, 176%, 133%, and 108% respectively.
eDreams also noted that transatlantic demand is on the rise, indicating strong interest from American Swifties in the European shows.
In addition to the top five cities, there has been a noticeable increase in travel to Zurich, Lyon, Milan, Amsterdam, Vienna, and Madrid, where Taylor will also be performing.
