New stimulus update: $1,250 payment in 7 days.

All⁢ eligible residents in Montana should‍ have their 2021 income tax rebates, worth⁤ up to $1,250 per tax ⁤filer, delivered within the next seven days.

The tax rebates began being issued to eligible taxpayers in the Treasure ⁢State on July 3, ‌with the state saying it expects distribution‍ of ‍most of the payments to be completed by Aug. 31.

The rebate will be⁢ equal to the amount of‌ taxes a person paid‌ in individual income tax in tax year 2021. The maximum ‌amount an individual filer can receive⁣ from this rebate is $1,250, while the maximum amount a head of household or joint filer can receive is $2,500 for the rebate. The specific amount a taxpayer will receive can be found on⁣ line 20 of their Montana tax return.

Gov. ⁢Greg Gianforte (R-MT) said⁢ in a statement in June that the rebate is designed to give money back to Montana taxpayers, saying‌ they ‌”overpaid” their income taxes.

“Montanans overpaid their taxes, and we’re ⁣giving it back,” Gianforte said in a statement.⁣ “I look forward to getting⁤ this money back into⁤ Montanans’ pockets where it belongs.”

Residents will receive ⁣either a paper check or a direct deposit payment,⁤ depending on how their information is filed with the state.

No application is necessary for this rebate, according to the state.
