A Shocking Crime: Man Sentenced to Life for Killing Mail Carrier Over Missing Marijuana

A South Carolina man was sentenced to life in prison for a heinous crime that shocked the nation. Trevor Raekwon Seward, 25, was found guilty of murdering 64-year-old mail carrier Irene Pressley in Williamsburg County in 2019. The motive? Two pounds of marijuana that Seward believed should have been delivered to his mailbox.

Seward’s twisted plan took a dark turn when he discovered a note inside his mailbox instructing him to pick up the package at the post office. Fueled by anger, he confronted Pressley, demanding she hand over his illicit delivery. When she refused, Seward resorted to violence.

Armed with a rifle, Seward ambushed Pressley’s mail truck, firing a chilling 20 shots into the back of the vehicle. Tragically, some of the bullets found their mark, striking Pressley and ending her life.

In a shocking display of callousness, Seward then took control of the mail truck and drove it into a ditch before searching for his package and any other valuables. Leaving behind the truck and Pressley’s lifeless body, he made his escape.

The package of marijuana was later discovered on the street where Seward had mercilessly attacked Pressley.

Heartbreaking Impact on the Victim’s Family

Her sister, Elisha Hubbard, expressed the profound loss they experienced, revealing that their 97-year-old man sentenced to life for murdering mail carrier who failed to deliver drugs.”>father ultimately succumbed to the grief caused by his daughter’s murder.

During the sentencing hearing, family members, friends, and coworkers of Pressley spoke passionately about the void left by her absence. Vernelle Gibson Oates, another sister of Pressley, tearfully questioned Seward’s motives, asking why he took the life of an innocent woman.

As the family poured out their pain, Seward sat silently, declining the opportunity to speak. Judge Donald C. Coggins, Jr. addressed him directly, acknowledging the gravity of his actions and the consequences he would face.

“Although you are likely to spend your life in federal prison, how you choose to spend it is entirely up to you,” Judge Coggins stated firmly.

Seward’s accomplice, Jerome Terrell Davis, also faced justice for his role in Pressley’s death. Davis pleaded guilty and received a 25-year prison sentence for his involvement in the robbery and marijuana conspiracy.
