‘Sound Of Freedom’ creators deny any political agenda in the movie.
“Sound of Freedom” Directors Speak Up About Their Intentions
The directors of “Sound of Freedom,” Alejandro Monteverde and Rod Barr, are sharing their thoughts on the film’s success and their original intentions.
This surprise hit movie delves into the horrors of human trafficking, following the story of Tim Ballard (played by Jim Caviezel), a federal agent who leaves his job to rescue a young girl from sex slavery in South America. Despite its modest budget of $14.5 million, “Sound of Freedom” has exceeded expectations, grossing over $160 million since its release on July 4.
In a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter, Monteverde and Barr clarify that their aim was to create an apolitical film from the beginning. They believed that ending child trafficking is an issue that can unite everyone, regardless of political affiliation.
According to the directors, the movie itself is not political but rather a retelling of true events with some creative adjustments. They emphasize that personal politics should be irrelevant when it comes to rescuing children from human trafficking.
Monteverde and Barr reject the notion that ”Sound of Freedom” was influenced by conspiracy theories and emphasize that it should bring people together instead of dividing them.
They conclude by stating that the issue of trafficking belongs to all of us, as it is a fundamental human rights issue that affects the world we share.
