Slotkin refuses DOJ inquiry over ‘seditious six’ video

Sen. elissa Slotkin says she will not participate in an inquiry by Attorney General Pam Bondi and U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro regarding the so-called “seditious six” video from last year. Slotkin, a former CIA officer, notes she is under federal examination for taking part in a joint video message to the intelligence community and U.S. military members about not being obligated to follow illegal orders, a move that drew pushback from the Trump administration. She sent a letter to Bondi and Pirro declining the interview, arguing she does not want to legitimize the administration’s actions and accusing them of intimidation designed to silence dissent. In a post on X,Slotkin said she would not comply and asked that all records in the case be retained, asserting that while presidents have near-immunity,that protection does not extend to those who act on his bidding. The piece also notes that Sen. Mark Kelly, who also appeared in the video, filed a lawsuit against War Secretary Pete Hegseth and others over retirement-grade reduction and a censure letter. The other Democrats cited as part of the “seditious six” are Reps. Jason crow, Maggie goodlander, Chris Deluzio, and Chrissy houlahan. The Washington Examiner adds that the Justice Department has reached out to all six lawmakers.

Slotkin refuses Bondi and Pirro’s inquiry request over ‘seditious six’ video

Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) said on Thursday that she will not sit for an inquiry with Attorney General Pam Bondi and U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro regarding the “seditious six” video last year.

Slotkin is under federal investigation for participating in a joint video message to the intelligence community and U.S. military members that they are not obligated to follow illegal orders. The video prompted pushback from the Trump administration, which dubbed the six lawmakers the “seditious six.” All of the lawmakers have been contacted by the Justice Department.

Slotkin, a former CIA officer, said she sent a letter to Bondi and Pirro saying she would not comply with their inquiry request. She said she did not want to “legitimize” the Trump administration’s actions.

“To be honest, many lawyers told me to just be quiet, keep my head down, and hopefully this will all just go away. But that’s exactly what the Trump administration and Jeanine Pirro want,” Slotkin said in a video on X. “They are purposefully using physical and legal intimidation to get me to shut up. But more importantly, they’re using that intimidation to deter others from speaking out against their administration.”

Slotkin said she would not go along with this “intimidation,” which is why she requested Bondi and Pirro to retain “all records on this case.” She contended that while the Supreme Court has provided the president with “near-immunity,” it has not done so for those “doing his bidding.”

Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), who also participated in the viral November video, filed a lawsuit last month against War Secretary Pete Hegseth, the War Department, the Navy, and Navy Secretary John Phelan over the fallout from his participation. Kelly asked the court to rule that the war secretary’s decision to initiate retirement grade reduction proceedings and issue a censure letter was “unlawful and unconstitutional.”

The other Democratic lawmakers in the “seditious six” video were Reps. Jason Crow (D-CO), Maggie Goodlander (D-NH), Chris Deluzio (D-PA), and Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA).

The Washington Examiner contacted Slotkin’s office and the DOJ for comment.
