Police: Sinéad O’Connor’s Death Not Considered Suspicious

Irish singer ​Sinéad ‍O’Connor’s death is not being treated as suspicious,⁣ according to the police. ‍However, an‍ autopsy will be​ conducted to determine the official cause ‌of death.

O’Connor, who tragically passed away at the age of 56, had‍ been battling mental health issues⁣ for years. The struggle intensified in January 2022 when ‌her ⁤17-year-old son, Shane, died by suicide after escaping suicide watch at a local hospital.

London Metropolitan Police received an⁣ emergency call around 11:18 a.m. local ⁢time on Wednesday. When they⁣ arrived ⁣at the designated apartment, they found ‍O’Connor ⁤unresponsive. Despite their efforts,⁣ she was pronounced dead at ‍the scene. The police found no signs of foul​ play ⁢and stated that her death ⁤is not considered suspicious.

O’Connor’s family released a ⁤statement ‌expressing their profound sadness and ⁣requesting privacy during this difficult time.

Fans and⁣ colleagues took to Twitter to pay tribute to ⁣the ‌iconic ‌singer.⁢ Composer Bear McCreary, who had been collaborating​ with O’Connor⁤ on new⁣ songs,⁤ mourned the loss of a friend and described her as a wise, visionary, ⁢and hilarious⁤ warrior poet.

I am gutted by​ the ‌loss of⁣ #SineadOConnor. She was the warrior poet⁣ I expected‍ her​ to⁢ be ⁢— wise and ‍visionary, but⁤ also hilarious. She and I laughed a lot.⁢ We were writing new songs together,⁤ which will ‍now never be complete. We’ve all⁣ lost an icon. I’ve lost ‍a friend. #RIP.

Chip Franklin, referencing O’Connor’s courageous act of revealing sex ⁣abuse by Catholic⁣ priests, acknowledged the relentless attacks she faced and praised her for being right. ‍He lamented her passing and the toll it took on her.

The band U2 also paid ⁣tribute to O’Connor, referring to her‍ as a heroine ‍and expressing⁤ their sorrow at her passing.
