As a tribute to her faith, Sinéad O’Connor, who converted to Islam in 2018, was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic customs. She was placed lying on her right side, with her head facing Qibla. The ceremony was officiated by Islamic scholar and Chief Imam at the Islamic Centre of Ireland, Shaykh Dr. Umar Al-Qadri, who offered prayers and later shared a picture of himself at her grave, accompanied by a heartfelt message mourning the loss of the “Daughter of Ireland.”
