Shaquille O’Neal sheds pounds, still aiming for more.
NBA Legend Shaquille O’Neal Reveals Stunning Weight Loss Journey
NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal has recently made headlines with his incredible weight loss transformation. The 51-year-old former basketball player, who has been open about his struggles with weight, shared that he has lost a total of 55 pounds and is determined to continue his journey towards a healthier lifestyle.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Shaq revealed that he currently weighs 351 pounds, just a few pounds away from his weight when the Lakers won the NBA championship in 2000. He admitted that he had reached a point where even climbing stairs was a challenge.
“I was getting chubby and couldn’t even walk up the stairs,” Shaq said. “I didn’t like the way I looked in the mirror. I was like, ‘I’m gonna lose 20’ and then I was trying to lose 20.”
But Shaq’s determination paid off, and he proudly shared, “I’ve got a five-pack now so I’ve got seven more packs to go because I want to take my shirt off on Instagram,” adding a touch of humor to his weight loss journey.
While Shaq has set a “crazy goal” for himself to reach a weight between 315 and 330 pounds, where he envisions having a “12-pack,” he has already made significant progress. In a previous interview with People magazine, he revealed that he had already lost 40 pounds by making lifestyle changes in his diet and exercise routine.
“I wish I would’ve paid more attention to it,” O’Neal said. “I was such a mental warrior that none of this stuff mattered to me. … I didn’t really take it seriously until I looked in the mirror six, seven years after I retired. I looked terrible. I had no definition and basically I was fat. I was really fat.”
Shaq’s commitment to his health has paid off not only in terms of weight loss but also in how he feels. He expressed feeling “really good” and having more energy after shedding the excess weight. By prioritizing his health and making smarter food choices, he has been able to enjoy activities he hadn’t done in years.
“I get to do stuff that I haven’t done,” O’Neal shared. “And it helps you discipline yourself much more. I eat about four or five times a day, but four of those meals used to be junk meals.”
Shaq’s weight loss journey serves as an inspiration to many, showing that it’s never too late to make positive changes for a healthier and happier life.
