The Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., has closed its sexual assault investigation into the husband of Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer after the U.S. Attorney’s Office found no evidence of a crime.
The inquiry was based on allegations that Dr. Shawn DeRemer inappropriately touched at least two female employees while visiting the Department of Labor. DeRemer was barred from entering the department’s headquarters as a result of his actions, according to the New York Times.
It remains unclear whether the anesthesiologist is still barred from the federal premises.
The police department filed a report about the alleged sexual misconduct last month before ultimately closing the case.

One of the incidents, which took place in December, was recorded by security cameras. DeRemer was seen giving one of the women an extended embrace or hug. He denies the sexual assault allegations.
