Ukraine boasts new long-range missile: Sevastopol awaits.
Ukraine Develops Long-Range Missile to Strike Russian Targets
Exciting news from Ukraine! President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced the successful development of a long-range missile that could potentially target crucial Russian locations in occupied Crimea and beyond. In a social media post, Zelensky proudly stated, “We have successfully employed our long-range weapons: The target was struck at a distance of 700 kilometers [435 miles].” This breakthrough has significant implications for Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
“Sevastopol is waiting,”
One of Zelensky’s top aides, Oleksiy Danilov, emphasized the importance of this achievement by quoting a Russian song and stating that Sevastopol, a crucial port city in occupied Crimea, is within striking distance from Odesa, another key Ukrainian port city, just 186 miles away by air.
This announcement sheds light on Ukraine’s determination to overcome the restrictions imposed by Western allies, who had previously provided shorter-range weapons on the condition that they not be used against Russia. Danilov confidently declared, “The missile program of the President of Ukraine is in action. The tests are successful, the deployment is effective.”
Zelensky’s team proudly shared this development amidst a series of drone attacks against Russian targets. One such attack reportedly damaged or destroyed several military transport planes at a base in Pskov, Russia, which is several hundred miles away from the Ukrainian border. These attacks utilized “cardboard drones” developed by Ukrainian security services to avoid radar detection, showcasing Ukraine’s growing expertise in drone technology.
Ukraine’s defense industry has experienced a surge in innovation since Russian President Vladimir Putin’s campaign to overthrow the Ukrainian government. Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov revealed that they are increasing the production of long-range drones, hinting at a revolution in production scaling.
This indigenous innovation allows Ukraine to bypass limitations imposed by Western governments, as their defense industrial base operates under the protection of Western air defense systems. Zelensky proudly proclaimed, “Artillery made in Ukraine. Shells made in Ukraine. Drones, missiles, armored vehicles. We are maximizing production capacity. Ukraine can do it. Funding is available. Our defense industry will yield better results.”
Ukraine’s advancements in missile technology and drone development are undoubtedly impressive, showcasing their determination to protect their sovereignty and defend against external threats.
