Sen. John Kennedy Mocks Vice President Kamala Harris Over Word Salad

During a recent appearance at the Essence Magazine “Festival of Culture” in New Orleans, Vice President Kamala Harris stumbled when asked to define “culture.” The video clip of her struggling with words quickly went viral.

Harris attempted to explain, saying, “Well I think, culture is, is a reflection of our moment and our time. Right? And, and, and present culture is the way we express how we’re feeling about the moment and, and we should always find times to express how we feel about the moment. That is a reflection of joy. ‘Cause you know … it comes in the morning.”

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) didn’t hold back in his response to the clip. He pointed out that Harris seemed unprepared and lacked the ability to express herself effectively. He even quipped, “Some might say that based on her performances that English is not her first, second, third, or even fourth language.”

Kennedy emphasized the importance of authenticity, stating, “Always be yourself unless you suck. If you suck, have enough self-awareness to know you suck, and try to do better.” He criticized Harris for trying to sound smart instead of speaking clearly and articulately for the average American.
