Senate Democrats are looking to pass a budget reconciliation bill without Republican votes. In a statement Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said that the framework presented by some Democrats and Republicans on infrastructure isn’t enough.
Schumer added, he thinks the bipartisan framework doesn’t “go far enough” on so-called climate change or tax increases. He said discussions on infrastructure are progressing on two tracks: the first is bipartisan and the second is pulling in elements of Joe Biden’s American Jobs Plan and American Families Plan.
“And that’s why we need we need bold,” stated the New York Democrat. “A reconciliation package, a budget resolution, that goes beyond what’s in the bill and I think just about everybody understands that.”
I had a great meeting with Senate Budget Committee Democrats.
With @POTUS’s budget, they can begin their work, especially on the American Jobs and Families Plans.
And one thing that’s clear: We must, and we will, take big bold measures to fight the climate crisis. pic.twitter.com/fIiBDX8Opj

Schumer added, they hope to get both the budget resolution and the bipartisan bill passed in July.
