Sen. Booker confident efforts on police reform will continue

Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) said he’s more than confident work towards police reform will continue. During an interview on Sunday, the Democrat agreed to renegotiate a newly crafted police reform bill after the previous legislation fell apart due to disagreements.

Booker worked alongside Republican Sen. Tim Scott (S.C.) and confirmed the bipartisan bill failed to come together because Scott wasn’t willing to embrace the changes they had previously discussed.

“Senator Scott and I actually are friends. And so, I’m more than confident, especially as I look at other Republicans here and other folks to deal with, that we’re going to find a way to keep working on this issue,” said Booker.

He emphasized there’s a problem with policing in America and isn’t giving up on making changes. “I cannot change the minds of some Republicans, but I’ve got enough momentum now that I will continue to work,” stated Booker.
