Schumer slams woke left as anti-Semitism surges in U.S
Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer Slams Left’s Anti-Semitism
In a powerful speech from the Senate floor, Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) condemned the political Left for its blatant anti-Semitism following Hamas’ terrorist attack on Israel. As the highest-ranking elected Jew in U.S. history, Schumer felt compelled to address the issue and shed light on the long-standing history of anti-Semitism faced by Jews worldwide.
While taking a brief swipe at former President Donald Trump, Schumer wasted no time in calling out the woke Left as the main perpetrators of anti-Semitism. He presented alarming statistics that showcased the recent surge in anti-Semitic incidents.
The Woke Left: The Primary Culprit of Anti-Semitism
“The solidarity that Jewish Americans initially received from many of our fellow citizens was quickly drowned out by other voices,” Schumer stated. “Even as the dead bodies of Jewish Israelis were still warm and hundreds were held hostage in Hamas tunnels, some of our fellow citizens justified this brutal terrorist attack by blaming the Israeli government.”
He continued, “They celebrated this heinous act, describing it as the deserved fate of ‘colonizers’ and glorifying the martyrs who carried out these atrocities.”
Surprisingly, Schumer pointed out that these anti-Semitic statements were not coming from the far-Right but from individuals who were once considered ideological allies by liberal Jewish Americans.
“Not long ago, we marched together for black and brown lives, stood against anti-Asian hatred, protested bigotry against the LGBTQ community, and fought for reproductive justice. We recognized that injustice against one oppressed group is injustice against all. However, it seems that this principle does not extend to the Jewish people,” Schumer emphasized.
Schumer delved into the historical persecution faced by Jews and shared his family’s personal experiences. He then highlighted specific incidents that have alarmed Jews across the country.

“When Jewish people hear chants like ‘From the river to the sea,’ a founding slogan of Hamas, we are alarmed. When signs in the crowd read ’By Any Means Necessary’ after the most violent attack against Israeli civilians, we are appalled. And when the genocide of the Holocaust is equated to the Israeli army’s actions in self-defense, we are shocked,” Schumer passionately expressed.
Labeling Specific Incidents as Anti-Semitism
After October 7th:
- Boycotts organized against Jewish businesses in Philadelphia that have nothing to do with Israel — that is anti-Semitism!
- Swastikas appearing on Jewish delis on the Upper East Side — that is anti-Semitism!
- Protesters in California shouting at Jewish Americans, “Hitler should’ve smashed you!” — that is anti-Semitism!
- A Jewish U.S. Senator being violently threatened for her views on Israel — that is anti-Semitism!
- Harassment, vilification, and physical assault of students on college campuses who display Jewish symbols — that is anti-Semitism!
- An author in a prominent left-wing magazine labeling the pro-Israel rally in Washington a “hate rally” — that is anti-Semitism! Schumer attended the rally to support a place of refuge for the Jewish people, not to wish violence on Palestinians or any other group.
- Students at Hillcrest High School in Queens demanding the firing of a teacher simply because she attended a rally supporting Israel, forcing her to hide in a locked office for hours — that is anti-Semitism!
Schumer concluded by emphasizing that while it is legitimate to march in support of Palestinians, it is pure and simple anti-Semitism to force a Jewish teacher to hide in fear for attending a rally in support of Israel.

The Recent Surge in Anti-Semitism
Schumer presented disturbing statistics that revealed a sharp rise in anti-Semitic incidents. He referred to the Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) annual Audit of Anti-Semitic Incidents, which documented a record-breaking number of cases in 2020.
“In 2020 alone, we witnessed a 40% increase in anti-Semitic incidents compared to the previous year,” Schumer stated. “This includes acts of violence, vandalism, and harassment targeting Jewish individuals and institutions.”
He also mentioned the rise in online hate speech targeting Jews, pointing out the alarming fact that anti-Semitic posts on social media platforms have increased by 500% in recent years.
Schumer acknowledged that while criticism of Israeli policies and actions is legitimate and can be part of a healthy political discourse, it is crucial to draw a line between legitimate criticism and outright anti-Semitism.
“Let me be clear, legitimate criticism of Israeli policies is not anti-Semitic,” Schumer stressed. “But when criticism crosses the line into anti-Jewish tropes, conspiracy theories, or denies the right of the Jewish people to self-determination and security, it becomes anti-Semitism. And that is where we must draw the line.”
He called on all Americans, regardless of political affiliation, to stand united against anti-Semitism and condemn it in all its forms. Schumer urged leaders and influencers on the political Left to stop turning a blind eye to or even endorsing anti-Semitic rhetoric.
A Call for Unity and Condemnation
“It is time for those who claim to be the champions of justice, equality, and human rights to walk the talk when it comes to the Jewish people,” Schumer declared. “To all those on the Left who have remained silent or excused anti-Semitism within your own ranks, shame on you. You are complicit in this hate.”
He ended his speech with a plea for unity and solidarity among all Americans, emphasizing that it is only through collective action and condemnation of hate that progress can be made.
“Let us come together as a nation, as Americans, to reject anti-Semitism and all forms of hatred,” Schumer concluded. “The Jewish people have endured centuries of persecution, but we will not be silenced. We will continue to fight for justice, and we will stand tall against anti-Semitism, no matter where it comes from.”
In a time when divisions seem to dominate the political landscape, it is refreshing to see leaders like Charles Schumer taking a stand against anti-Semitism. His powerful speech serves as a reminder that no matter our political differences, we must always come together to condemn hate and discrimination in all its forms.
As we move forward, it is essential that individuals and communities work together to promote tolerance, understanding, and respect for one another. Only through these collective efforts can we hope to create a world free from bigotry and prejudice.
