Savannah Chrisley thanks Trump for pardoning parents: ‘I vow to stand next to you’
Savannah Chrisley, daughter of reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley, expressed gratitude to President Donald Trump after he issued full pardons for her parents, who were serving lengthy sentences for fraud and tax evasion.
In a video posted Tuesday on Instagram, Savannah, 27, announced the news to her 2.9 million followers, revealing that Trump personally informed her of the decision during a surprise phone call.
“The president called me personally as I was walking into Sam’s Club and notified me that he was signing the pardon paperwork for both of my parents,” she said. “I still don’t believe it’s real. I’m freaking out — the fact that the president called me.”
Todd and Julie Chrisley, known for their hit USA Network series Chrisley Knows Best, were convicted in 2022 of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, wire fraud, and tax evasion. Todd was sentenced to 12 years, while Julie received a seven-year sentence. Both were also ordered to serve 16 months of probation and pay $17.8 million in restitution.
Savannah, who has been an outspoken advocate for her parents since their convictions, said the pardons represent a new beginning.
“My parents get to start their lives over. … President Trump didn’t just commute their sentences, he gave them a full unconditional pardon. So for that, I am forever grateful,” she said.
During an interview on NewsNation’s On Balance, Savannah described her conversation with Trump and shared one particularly memorable moment from the call.
“He said, ‘You guys don’t look like terrorists to me,’” she recounted, adding that Trump believed the couple’s treatment was unfair. “He thought their sentences were outrageous and wanted to do more than just commute them — he wanted to clear their names completely.”
The Chrisley family had reportedly appealed to the Trump administration for help in recent months, with Savannah even speaking at the 2024 Republican National Convention in an effort to bring attention to what she called a “gross miscarriage of justice.”
In an interview with ABC News, she admitted the call caught her off guard.
“I kind of had gotten to a place where I had lost hope. Then I got the call. It was just a shock,” she said. “He’s the reason my family is coming back together.”
Savannah also pledged to stand by Trump as he continues to rail against what he claims is widespread corruption in the justice system.
“I vow to stand next to you,” she said in her Instagram video. “We’re going to expose the corruption, and we’re going to bring justice to so many others that have been wrongfully convicted.”
The Chrisleys’ legal troubles began with federal charges stemming from fraudulent bank loan applications and falsified financial documents dating back as far as 2007.
