Saudi Arabia to hold Ukraine peace talks, excluding Russia.

Saudi Arabia to Host Summit on Ukraine War and Peace Plan

Saudi ⁣Arabia is set to host a summit to discuss the ongoing war in Ukraine⁤ and President⁤ Volodymyr Zelensky’s peace plan. Andriy ‌Yermak, Zelensky’s chief of staff, announced on social media that they are working to involve‍ as many partners as possible in the upcoming meeting of⁣ national security advisers. The first meeting, initiated by Ukraine, took place in June in Copenhagen. Now, they are focused on bringing together partners from both the West ⁢and the ‍Global South⁣ for negotiations in Saudi Arabia.

The summit, scheduled for August 5-6 in Jeddah, is ‌expected to include representatives from up to 30 countries, excluding Russia. Russian officials have largely ignored diplomatic appeals, often making⁤ demands that go ‍against Ukrainian red lines.⁢ However, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov admitted that Russia⁢ will closely‍ monitor the summit.

“Undoubtedly, Russia will keep an eye on this meeting. We’d have to fully understand what goals are being set and what the organizers actually plan to talk about. We have repeatedly said that any attempts to somehow contribute to a peaceful settlement deserve a positive assessment,” Peskov said.

While Russia ⁢will not be present at⁢ the summit, Peskov emphasized that reaching a peace ⁢settlement ‍with the current stance of the Kiev regime is impossible, as it is seen as a⁤ tool in the collective West’s war against Russia. Last month, a group ‍of Western leaders met in Copenhagen, with representatives‍ from Brazil, India, Turkey, and South Africa in attendance. Bloomberg ⁤News also reported‌ that President Zelensky may attend the United Nations General Assembly in September.

Meanwhile, Russian leader Vladimir Putin recently hosted the leaders of‌ several African nations.
