SF Bakery Denies Service to Uniformed Armed Cops
A San Francisco Bakery Refuses Service to Armed Law Enforcement Officers
A San Francisco bakery is making headlines for its controversial policy of refusing service to armed law enforcement officers in uniform. The San Francisco Police Officers Association recently shared a post on social media, revealing that Reem’s bakery has a confirmed policy of not serving anyone armed and in uniform, including members of the US Military.
The union included a photo of the bakery and a partially redacted screenshot of an email from Reem’s confirming the policy. The email stated, “At Reem’s we do have a policy to not serve anyone that is armed in a uniform. All officers are welcome to come to our establishment when they are off duty and not armed.”
We are not asking Reem’s or any business with a bigoted policy to serve our officers. We’re asking them to own their discriminatory policy & and put up a sign so we know not to spend money in your establishment—on or off duty. We took the liberty of designing one for them. pic.twitter.com/aITQFLOFG0

In response, the Police Officers Association expressed their disapproval of the bakery’s policy. They stated that if Reem’s did not want to serve officers who were on duty, in uniform, and potentially armed, then the officers did not want to support the business at any time. The association suggested that Reem’s should put up a sign to clearly indicate their discriminatory policy.
The proposed sign designed by the association read, “NO ENTRY. NO COPS ALLOWED. HAVE A NICE DAY.“
Former news correspondent Adam Housley commented on the situation, saying, “And this is why the city has become what it is.”

The National Fraternal Order of Police Questions Reem’s Owners
The National Fraternal Order of Police raised an important question for Reem’s owners. They asked whether the bakery had requested that law enforcement not respond in the event of a criminal incident on their premises. The FOP posted on social media, “Soooo has Reem’s contacted SFPD and been placed on a do not respond list or nah? Just checking…”
