Ronna McDaniel disagrees with Trump’s push to free jailed Jan. 6 rioters
Ronna McDaniel Takes a Stand Against Trump’s Pledge to Free Jan. 6 Rioters
Former Republican National Committee chairwoman, Ronna McDaniel, recently made headlines when she voiced her strong opposition to ex-President Donald Trump’s proposal to release individuals imprisoned for their involvement in the January 6 Capitol riot.
“I want to be very clear — the violence that happened on Jan. 6 is unacceptable,”
During an interview on NBC News’s Meet the Press, McDaniel adamantly stated her stance on the matter, asserting that the events of January 6 did not align with the values of the country or the Republican Party.
McDaniel Stands Firm
When pressed by host Kristen Welker about her disagreement with Trump’s position, McDaniel reiterated her position, “I do not think people who committed violent acts on January 6 should be freed,” firmly drawing a line against the former president’s proposal.
Welker probed further, questioning why McDaniel had not spoken out earlier during her tenure as RNC chairperson.
Speaking Truth
McDaniel candidly shared, “When you’re the RNC chair, you kind of take one for the whole team, right? Now I get to be a little bit more myself. This is what I believe.” She emphasized the importance of condemning violence in political discourse, regardless of party affiliation.
Despite agreeing with Trump on various policy matters, McDaniel firmly stands by her stance against releasing individuals involved in the Capitol unrest.
The former RNC chairwoman’s departure from her position earlier this month following disagreements with Trump led to her new role as an NBC News contributor, sparking controversy within the company.
Ronna McDaniel’s unwavering stance serves as a testament to the importance of upholding the values of non-violence and accountability within the political landscape.
