Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Pulls Out of Moms for Liberty Summit

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a Democratic presidential candidate challenging President Joe Biden for the nomination, has made a surprising decision to withdraw from a speaking event at this week’s controversial Moms for Liberty summit in Philadelphia.

The group’s co-founder, Tiffany Justice, expressed disappointment on Tuesday, revealing that Kennedy had initially confirmed his appearance a week ago. Moms for Liberty had eagerly anticipated his presence, but Kennedy informed the influential group of conservative mothers that “his schedule changed and he can no longer speak at our summit.”

Kennedy’s Unconventional Stance

Renowned for his association with one of America’s most famous political dynasties, Kennedy has managed to capture the attention of some conservatives with his anti-vaccine messages and scathing criticism of Biden’s immigration policies. His controversial statements, such as comparing mask mandates to “Hitler’s Germany” and suggesting that chemicals in water can alter sexual orientation and gender identity, have also made headlines. Despite once being considered for a position in former President Barack Obama’s administration, Kennedy has found a niche within certain conservative circles.

Originally scheduled to join former President Donald Trump, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), Vivek Ramaswamy, and others at the three-day conference, Kennedy’s absence will undoubtedly be felt. The event aims to bring together like-minded individuals from across the country to hear from potential presidential candidates and participate in workshops focused on mobilizing voting power and advocating for conservative policies in education.

Moms for Liberty: A Rising Force

Established in 2021, Moms for Liberty has emerged as a prominent player in the ongoing culture war against school boards. The group has made its presence known by attending meetings, voicing concerns about books that touch on race and gender identity, and accusing public school teachers of indoctrination.

The founders, all of whom are current or former school board members in Florida, have been vocal opponents of student mask and quarantine policies during the COVID-19 pandemic. In just two years, they have transformed their modest nonprofit organization into one of the most influential groups advocating for conservative policies. With over 120,000 active members in 285 chapters across 44 states, Moms for Liberty continues to grow rapidly, with its largest chapter located in Florida and the second-largest in Pennsylvania.

However, the group has faced significant backlash from various organizations, which claim that Moms for Liberty is a well-funded, far-right, and racist cabal that promotes exclusionary policies.
