Robert De Niro cries as he advises people to endure Trump’s ‘fire’
Hollywood icon Robert De Niro got emotional during an interview as he vented about how President Donald Trump is “destroying” the United States.
The actor, a known critic of the president, cited Trump’s past feuds with celebrities such as Rosie O’Donnell as to why Trump is “unqualified” to lead. He added that Trump is “the enemy of this country” and that people need to stay united to oust the current administration.
“You have to lift people up,” De Niro said Monday on The Best People with Nicolle Wallace. “You have to bring them together. Period.
“You can’t divide people. You can’t win that way. It’s a no-win situation, and look what we have, look who we have there. It’s almost like a destiny to have this thing there destroying, attempting to destroy this country, and maybe not even understanding why. So it’s up to us to protect the country.”
De Niro advised people to “resist, resist, resist, resist,” and there is “no easy way” to endure Trump’s leadership.
“You better do this, you better jump and run through the fire, cause if you don’t run through the fire, you’re not getting out, and that’s what we have to do,” De Niro said.
WHO ISN’T ATTENDING THE STATE OF THE UNION, AND WHAT TO EXPECT FROM DEMOCRATIC RESISTANCE
De Niro’s past protests against Trump include him speaking outside Trump’s legal fight in New York in May 2024. The actor will also be featured at the “State of the Swamp” on Tuesday, a rebuttal to Trump’s State of the Union speech.
Trump’s annual speech will begin at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
