The Republican Party Fights Back to Protect Election Integrity in Wisconsin
The Republican National Committee (RNC) and Republican Party of Wisconsin (RPW) have taken a stand against a lawsuit filed by Democrat-affiliated attorney Marc Elias, aiming to intervene in Priorities USA v. Wisconsin Elections Commission. This lawsuit, filed by the Elias Law Group, seeks to allow Wisconsin voters to return absentee ballots in drop boxes, despite a previous ruling by the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Protecting the Integrity of Wisconsin Elections
The Republican response highlights the importance of election safeguards and accuses Elias of partnering with far-left dark money groups to undermine these safeguards. RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel emphasizes the need to ensure Wisconsinites have faith in their election process, stating, ”Wisconsin election integrity is under attack from far-left dark-money groups bent on destroying basic voting safeguards, so the RNC, RPW, and RITE are legally intervening to ensure that Wisconsinites can have faith in their election process.”
RPW Chairman Brian Schimming echoes this sentiment, vowing to continue protecting Wisconsin voters’ confidence in their elections. He criticizes the attempts by Democrats to undo common-sense voting measures and emphasizes the importance of bipartisan support for election safeguards.
Fighting Back Against Democrat Efforts
The RNC further asserts that Democrats lack substance when it comes to election law and rely on “hysterical left-wing talking points.” They highlight three key election law wins secured by the party in the 2022 midterm election cycle: Teigen v. Wisconsin Elections Commission, White v. Wisconsin Elections Commission, and DeLorey v. City of Green Bay. These wins banned ballot drop boxes, restricted ballot harvesting, and protected access for Republican election observers.
With a total of 50 election integrity lawsuits across 16 states for the 2024 cycle, the RNC remains committed to upholding the integrity of elections nationwide.
