Harry and Meghan’s request to join Biden on Air Force One was denied.

Prince Harry ⁢and Meghan⁢ Markle’s Request ⁤to Fly Back with President Biden ⁣on Air Force‍ One‍ Denied

According to‌ reports, Prince Harry‌ and‌ Meghan Markle,⁢ the⁢ Duke and Duchess of Sussex, sought⁣ permission from ⁤the ‍Biden ‌administration to ⁢return⁣ from Queen Elizabeth ‌II’s ‌funeral⁢ aboard ‍Air Force One. Unfortunately, their request was⁢ rejected.

The royal ⁢couple ⁤had been‍ in the ‌United Kingdom at the time of ⁣the queen’s‌ passing⁢ in⁢ September 2022 and‌ had stayed for the funeral ‌in‌ mid-September.

Missed Opportunities

Regrettably, the‌ duke and duchess were unable to attend the pre-funeral reception‍ at Buckingham Palace, where world leaders,⁣ including President Joe Biden and first ‌lady Jill Biden, ⁢gathered to greet King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Their request to join‍ the Bidens‌ on⁤ Air ‍Force One⁣ was‌ deemed a “non-starter” as⁢ it would have strained relations with⁤ the Palace and‌ the new King.

Interestingly, this was not the only ‌invitation extended by ⁢the duke and duchess ⁢to the Bidens last year.

Before ⁢his presidency, Joe Biden and ‌his wife⁢ had attended ‍the 2017 ⁤Invictus Games in⁢ Canada with former President⁤ Barack ⁢Obama and ⁣Prince⁣ Harry. The couple allegedly invited Jill ⁣Biden to the Invictus Games in The Hague ⁢last year, ‌hoping to ‌secure a‍ ride on ⁣Air Force⁣ One.‌ However,‌ the administration ⁣was concerned that her attendance might offend the royal family. As a ⁤result, Transportation Secretary⁢ Pete‍ Buttigieg led ⁤a delegation to the Invictus ⁣Games in April last ‍year instead.
