Riley Gaines criticizes Karine Jean-Pierre for avoiding transgender athlete question.
Former female collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines had a fiery response to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre regarding the participation of trans-identifying male athletes in women’s sports.
During a recent briefing, a journalist asked Jean-Pierre if President Joe Biden believes it’s fair for girls to compete against biological males. Jean-Pierre’s response was evasive, stating that it is a complicated issue with a wide range of views.
Unsatisfied with Jean-Pierre’s answer, Gaines took to social media to express her frustration. She sarcastically criticized the administration’s stance, highlighting the lack of concern for women’s rights in the discussion.
“Does the president agree that [biological boys playing girls’ sports] is a women’s rights issue?”

Gaines firmly stated her position, emphasizing that the issue is not complicated at all. She believes that males should compete with males and females should compete with females.
“Well, we do know we won’t stand for trans kids to be told they can’t play where they want, but we don’t know if we care about women, therefore this issue is complicated.”

She clarified that no one is being denied the opportunity to play sports or transition. Her argument is simply for fair competition in safe environments.
Gaines has emerged as a passionate advocate for women’s rights in sports. She has faced backlash for speaking out against the inclusion of biological males in female sports. In fact, she experienced verbal and physical assault during an event at San Francisco State University where she was discussing the discrimination faced by women in their own sports.
