Retired Admiral Predicts Wagner Boss Prigozhin’s Days Are Numbered

Retired U.S. Admiral James Stavridis made a bold prediction on Sunday, stating that Yevgeny Prigozhin, the boss of Wagner, is on borrowed time after his failed coup in Russia over the weekend.

During an interview with NBC News’ “Meet The Press,” Stavridis discussed the state of Russia’s military leadership in the aftermath of the rebellion.

He described the incident as another example of the “chaos” that Russia has been grappling with since President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine 16 months ago.

“Terrible logistics, bad intelligence, and poor leadership on the battlefield, coupled with the casual use of cell phones,” Stavridis explained. “In fact, these recent events will provide a wealth of intelligence for the United States military.”

Regarding Prigozhin, Stavridis invoked the “Game of Thrones” philosophy, stating, “If you go for the king, you better kill the king. Prigozhin failed to do that. Now, he will be cut off from the 35,000 fighters who have protected him. He’s like a snake without a head. I don’t think he’ll last 60 to 90 days because Putin, at his core, is a never forgive, never forget kind of person.”

Stavridis believes that Putin will stop at nothing to exact revenge on Prigozhin.

Furthermore, Stavridis suggested that the attempted rebellion would have an impact on Russia’s ability to fight in Ukraine.

“Consider the moral implications for Russian conscripts witnessing all of this unfold, especially with access to the internet,” he said. “Additionally, the information that has been exchanged during this conflict will be denied. Lastly, we may see leadership changes. Will Shoigu remain in power? Is he part of the deal? No one knows.”
