Republicans mock Democrats for $20 million ‘Speaking with American Men’ study
Republicans are mocking Democrats for a proposed post-election project aimed at improving how the party and its candidates communicate with men, one that could cost $20 million.
The “Speaking with American Men: A Strategic Plan” proposal promises to invest in the “syntax, language and content that gains attention and virality in these spaces,” according to the New York Times. A prospectus recommends advertising in video games and avoiding “a moralizing tone.”
“The Democrats are getting ready to light $20 million on fire to study their unpopularity!” Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI), the House Republican Conference chairwoman, wrote on social media Tuesday.
Rep. Abe Hamadeh (R-AZ), 34, piled on, writing, “Democrats declared war on masculinity and lost a generation of young men.”
“Instead of doing any introspection as to what they did wrong, they’re going to invest $20 million studying “male Syntax” to try to better communicate their radical message,” he added.
President Donald Trump won 55% of men in last year’s election, compared to former Vice President Kamala Harris‘s 43% share of the vote. Four years earlier, Trump won the demographic 53% to former President Joe Biden‘s 45%.
Trump’s appearances on several podcasts that are popular with men, ranging from Theo Von’s to Joe Rogan‘s, have been credited with the inroads he made with the demographic last cycle, amplifying his pro-men policies after years of “woke” Democratic positions.
Cognizant of Harris’s problems appealing to men, particularly young men, Democrats were skewered for an ad released during the campaign by Creatives for Harris, a group unconnected to the campaign, that showcased men who were “man enough” to vote for the then-vice president.
Even former President Barack Obama was criticized last year for his approach to men after he scrutinized black men for not supporting Harris during an outreach event.

“Part of it makes me think that, well, you just aren’t feeling the idea of having a woman as president,” he said in Pittsburgh. “This shouldn’t even be a question.”
More than six months after last year’s election, Democrats have yet to identify a winning message against Trump, with the president’s approval rating recovering from last month’s dip after the announcement of his “Liberation Day” tariffs.
