Republican lawmakers in 14 states support Texas in the border dispute with President Biden
Republican lawmakers in over a dozen states are rallying behind GOP Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s efforts to fortify the U.S. southern border while the Biden administration works to dismantle it. In a press conference held at Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, Texas, Abbott vowed to allocate additional resources to counter the ongoing foreign invasion.
“In Texas, we’ve achieved a decrease in illegal crossings thanks to great teamwork,” Abbott stated. “Our partnership with the Texas National Guard has played a crucial role, and we are currently collaborating with the Texas Military Department to enhance our defenses with more razor wire, anti-climb barriers, and personnel.”
This press conference comes shortly after the Supreme Court lifted an injunction that temporarily prevented the removal of razor wire along the Texas border, which was erected to deter illegal crossings. Abbott has issued orders for state agents to continue safeguarding parts of the southern border as states grapple with the ongoing “invasion.”
Last month, 26 GOP attorneys general signed a letter in solidarity with Texas, demanding the Biden administration to “enforce the laws that secure the southern border.”
“States have an independent duty to defend against invasion,” they asserted. “…[T]he crisis at the border requires the Executive Branch to enforce the law.”
Additionally, Republican governors in 25 states have expressed support for Abbott’s plans to curb the Biden administration’s open border policy, with some even deploying National Guard troops to reinforce Texas.
“President Biden and his Administration have left Americans and our country completely vulnerable to unprecedented illegal immigration pouring across the Southern border,” stated a joint statement from the 25 governors. “We stand in solidarity with our fellow Governor, Greg Abbott, and the State of Texas in utilizing every tool and strategy, including razor wire fences, to secure the border.”
Republican legislators in 14 other states are also voicing their support.

Kansas
Last week, Republicans in the Kansas House of Representatives passed a resolution in solidarity with Texas, urging the state’s Democrat governor to provide National Guard troops to assist Texas.
“The failures of the Biden Administration have led to millions of individuals entering our country illegally, posing a threat to national security, an increase in human trafficking and smuggling, and the release of a deadly influx of fentanyl into our communities,” stated the state’s Republican leadership. “By preventing Texas from defending its border, the Biden administration has escalated and exacerbated these safety concerns to a crisis level. We encourage Governor Laura Kelly to stand with Texas and offer any necessary support to protect its citizens and defend its southern border.”
