Debate Analysis: Where Do Trump, DeSantis, and the Rest of the Republican 2024 Field Stand on Key Issues?

Among the candidates,⁢ Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) faced the harshest criticism from Greene and Gaetz. Greene noted that she didn’t see him smile at all, while Gaetz added, “there’s a sadness there.” Gaetz further ‍observed that DeSantis seemed to seek his own approval by looking down at the conclusion of every answer, prompting him to delve into ⁣the psychological aspects of the debate.

Expressing their disappointment, both representatives ‌concluded that the Republican Party is “sliding backward” without Trump’s presence.

However, Gaetz ‍and Greene praised Ramaswamy for his performance. They particularly appreciated his defense of Trump and his pledge ⁤to pardon the former president if ⁢elected, as well as his call to halt aid to Ukraine.

For all his strengths, Greene did criticize Ramaswamy for his lack of political experience and relatively ⁢young age, expressing a preference for a candidate with more extensive engagement‌ in running‌ the country.

“In order to be president of the United States, I really want to see someone that’s been deeply engaged for‌ quite a long time,” she emphasized.
