Fresh off the stage of the second Republican National Committee debate in the 2024 election cycle, Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has thrown down the gauntlet, challenging former President Donald Trump to a thrilling one-on-one debate.
While Trump has chosen to skip both GOP debates held so far, citing his commanding lead in the polls, DeSantis firmly believes that the former president “owes it to our voters.”
“Maybe we can say — since the former president didn’t come here,” DeSantis told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “Maybe he’d be willing to do one with you and me.”
“I think he owes it to our voters to come and make the case,” emphasized the passionate Florida governor.
DeSantis has already agreed to a debate with Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) on November 30, with Hannity as the moderator. This highly anticipated event has been dubbed the “red vs. blue state debate.”
“This is going to be ‘Hannity: One-on-one debate central,'” responded Hannity with a smile, expressing his intention to reach out to Trump and invite him to participate.
Both Hannity and DeSantis are well aware of the buzz surrounding the upcoming debate with Newsom.
Hannity pointed out that this forum will provide “plenty of breathing room that will lend itself to more conversation.”
DeSantis, determined to make his case to voters, promised to continue showing up, firmly stating, “No one’s entitled to anything.”
