Rep. McCarthy says new Congress rules deny freedom of speech

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy recently condemned the new Congress rules, while claiming they violate free speech. While speaking on the House floor Monday, he alerted Congress to the glaring constitutional threats concealed in the new Congress regulations.
The rules, which passed Monday, include provisions to end the minority party’s ability to use Motion to Commit. The move stifles what is often the majority party’s only chance to object.
Minority leader McCarthy was dismayed by the new “socialist” regulations.
“The right to speak your mind and question your leaders are often the first casualties of socialist governments throughout history,” he stated. “Not far behind are other important freedoms, including the right to defend yourself and the right to earn a living, which are impossible to protect without the freedom of speech.”

The rules would also ban the use of gender-specific pronouns.
