Rep. Angie Craig maintains commanding lead in competitive race following impressive fundraising success.

Rep. Angie Craig⁢ Outraises Republican Challengers in Bid for ⁤Fourth Term

Rep. ‌Angie Craig ⁣(D-MN) is proving⁤ to‍ be⁤ a⁢ formidable force‍ in ‌the upcoming 2024 election ⁢as⁤ she outraises her Republican ⁢colleagues⁢ vying to unseat ⁢her from ⁤the‌ House‍ swing seat.

Running⁣ for⁤ reelection to secure ⁣a fourth ⁢term, Craig’s‌ fundraising‌ efforts have⁣ been impressive.⁣ From‍ April to ⁢the ⁢end of June, she ⁢brought in ⁢over⁤ $840,000, leaving her with a substantial⁢ cash on⁤ hand of more‍ than $1.1 ⁣million.

⁤ ⁣

“History shows that most support for Republicans running ‌against me⁣ will come from large ⁣super ⁣PACs — ‌not⁢ the candidates themselves,” Craig‌ stated. “MAGA⁤ Republican super PACs⁣ spent $13.5 million against ⁣me ⁤in 2022 and ‍seem ‌poised to do ‍so again. But ⁢I’ve never ⁣been one⁢ to back⁢ down ⁣from ‍a‍ fight. We‌ will be ready for⁣ 2024.”

The ⁤Cook Political Report⁤ has listed Craig’s seat as likely Democratic, ⁤but⁤ that hasn’t ⁣deterred two GOP ‍candidates from‍ stepping up to challenge her and potentially ⁢give House Republicans a larger ‌majority. However, ⁤their fundraising‍ efforts have fallen⁣ short ‌compared to Craig’s.

Criminal⁢ defense lawyer Tayler Rahm, who‌ entered‍ the⁤ race just a ⁣month before the fundraising period ended, managed to bring‌ in just under $51,500. His campaign ‌currently has approximately‌ $34,000 in cash, according‍ to campaign‍ filings.

“Tayler is⁤ a brand-new candidate ⁤to the field.⁣ He’s only had 30 ⁤days,⁣ but he certainly showed that he’s ‌got‌ moxie and⁤ momentum,”⁢ said Rahm’s campaign manager Jill Vujovich-Laabs.

The other GOP⁤ candidate, Mike ⁢Murphy, ‍former mayor of Lexington, ⁢Minnesota, ⁣has faced ⁤difficulties in raising funds despite entering the race‌ early on. From April to June, Murphy’s⁣ fundraising efforts yielded‍ less ‍than $4,000.

Rep. Angie Craig’s seat is one‍ of the 37 ⁤Democratic ‍seats targeted by the‍ National Republican ‌Congressional ⁢Committee in 2024. The‍ committee released a list ⁣in ⁤March, ‍highlighting 35 incumbents and two open‌ seats as part ‍of⁣ the House GOP’s offensive ⁤strategy⁤ for this⁢ cycle.

Among the targeted ‍seats‍ were‌ some⁣ of the top ‌Democratic ⁣spenders ⁣in the⁣ midterm elections, with Craig’s‌ race‌ ranking fourth, attracting ⁢over⁣ $20 million ⁣in spending from outside groups.
