Representative Rashida Tlaib demands President Joe Biden’s support for a cease-fire to end “the genocide of the Palestinian people.”
Tlaib (D-Mich.) posted a video on X, formerly known as Twitter, criticizing Biden for supporting Israel and opposing a cease-fire. She tells him that “the majority of the American people are not with you on this one. #CeasefireNow.”
“From the river to the sea is an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence, not death, destruction, or hate. My work and advocacy is always centered in justice and dignity for all people no matter faith or ethnicity,” she continued.
The tweet also included video clips from Gaza and protests in the United States, as well as quotes from Biden, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Protest cries from Ohio were heard, shouting, “No peace on stolen land!” “Free! Free! Palestine!” says Illinois, and “From the river to the sea” says Michigan.
The video concludes with Tlaib stating, “We will remember in 2024,” followed by the words, “Joe Biden supported the genocide of the Palestinian people,” flashing on the screen, along with a demand for immediate support for a cease-fire “or don’t count on us in 2024.”
Tlaib faced criticism from Republican leaders, with some labeling her as “anti-Semitic.”
Last week, Tlaib faced a vote to censure her, led by Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who accused Tlaib of supporting Jewish demonstrators demanding a cease-fire during an attempted insurgency in a House office building.
The censure motion was defeated by a vote of 222-186.

Tensions in the Middle East have once again taken center stage as Representative Rashida Tlaib demands President Joe Biden’s support for a cease-fire to end what she calls “the genocide of the Palestinian people.” In a video posted on social media, Tlaib criticizes Biden for supporting Israel and opposing a cease-fire, claiming that the majority of the American people are not in agreement with him on this issue.
Tlaib’s video includes clips from Gaza and protests in the United States, as well as quotes from Biden, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The video also captures the voices of protesters from different states, expressing their support for Palestine and calling for freedom on what they consider to be stolen land.
In her video, Tlaib emphasizes that the phrase “from the river to the sea” represents an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence, and not a call for death, destruction, or hate. She reiterates that her work and advocacy are always centered on justice and dignity for all people, regardless of their faith or ethnicity.
However, Tlaib’s demands for a cease-fire have faced criticism from Republican leaders, who have labeled her as “anti-Semitic.” Last week, she faced a vote to censure her, led by Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who accused Tlaib of supporting Jewish demonstrators during an attempted insurgency in a House office building. The motion to censure Tlaib was ultimately defeated by a majority vote.
