President Joe Biden Acknowledges Granddaughter After Years of Silence
President Joe Biden has made a surprising announcement, expressing his desire to meet his four-year-old granddaughter, Navy Joan Roberts. This comes after years of refusing to acknowledge her existence, until a recent news dump last Friday.
According to a report published by NBC News, Biden is eager to meet Navy Joan and hopes to dispel any notion that he was ignoring a vulnerable member of the Biden family tree.
Biden’s sudden acknowledgment of his seventh grandchild has raised eyebrows, as he has always presented himself as a devoted family man. However, reports suggest that he had been following his son Hunter’s lead and waiting for legal disputes to be resolved before addressing Navy Joan’s existence.
But as CNN contributor Scott Jennings pointed out, when a father fails to step up, the responsibility often falls on the grandparents to do what’s right for the child.

Responding to Democratic strategist Michael LaRosa, who argued that the Bidens were just a normal family, Jennings brought up the issue of the previously-unmentioned granddaughter. He criticized Hunter Biden’s behavior and the President’s lack of acknowledgment for four years.
“You know where I’m from, a lot of families deal with addiction, and you know who ends up picking up the pieces? The grandparents! And in this case, the grandparents would not acknowledge this little girl—” Jennings continued, highlighting the importance of grandparents in such situations.

Guest host Kasie Hunt pointed out that the Bidens had recently issued a statement about Navy Joan, but Jennings sarcastically remarked, “Oh, what a hero! The polling must have been brutal.”
The Bidens’ statement, released late Friday to PEOPLE Magazine, stated, “Our son Hunter and Navy’s mother, Lunden, are working together to foster a relationship that is in the best interests of their daughter, preserving her privacy as much as possible going forward.”
Previous reports suggest that the Bidens are helping Navy Joan ”preserve her privacy” through a child support agreement that prohibits her from using the Biden name.
