Pope prays for both Ukrainians and Russians in Easter message

Pope Francison Sunday gave prayers for both the Ukrainian and Russian people, asking God to “shed the light of Easter on the people of Russia” and help Ukrainians on “their journey towards peace.” His Easter message also spoke about the other conflicts in the world.

” Spread the light of Easter upon the people of Russia, and aid the loving Ukrainian men on their journey to love.” Give comfort to the injured and everyone who has lost loved ones as a result of the battle, and let prisoners go back to their families in safety. Francis urged the 45 000 people gathered in St. Peter’s’s Square on Sunday to” open the hearts of the whole international community to try to finish this battle and all tension and violence in our globe.”

Francis has frequently pleaded for prayers for the people involved in the conflict and for an end to the war as Russian leader Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022. He demanded a ceasefire and referred to the conflict in Ukraine as” absurd” and” cruel” in February.

Any” call for a ceasefire” in Ukraine is” unacceptable ,” according to White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby in March.

In an interview last month, the pope claimed that” royal passions, not just of the Soviet empire but of civilizations from somewhere” were to blame for the fight.

In his Easter statement, he also discussed the Israeli-Palestinian issue and urged them to create a” culture of trust” despite the region’s’s deadly violence.

Francis urged the global community to” pursue paths of love and fraternity” in his further remarks.

” Let’s’s move quickly to resolve our differences and conflicts and to be receptive to those who are most in need. The pope said on social media on Sunday,” Let’s’s hurry to pursue paths of love and frat.”

Perhaps you, the Lord of existence, entice us on our trip and take over to us, as you did to the disciples on the evening of Easter:” Peace be with you!” He concluded his remarks on Sunday. God’s’s blessings be with you! God’s’s blessings be with you!

One of the first years the 86-year-old pope has been seen in public after being admitted to the hospital for and recovering from asthma was this past weekend.

On Saturday evening, he presided over an Easter celebration in St. Peter’s’s Basilica, and on Sunday, the bishop delivered Easter Mass in front of tens of thousands of Christians. Due to the chilly weather in Rome, the still-recovering pontiff was forced to leave Good Friday’s’s daytime parade at the Colosseum.
