After the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) received ⁢a tip, officers were able to ⁢tail 28-year-old Jesse Garcia, who was wanted on multiple felony warrants.

According to⁤ the SAPD, the officers began following Garcia as they spotted him leaving in a vehicle. The 28-year-old realized they were tailing him and opened fire with a rifle striking one of the ‍officers.

As a result, a vehicle pursuit ensued after Garcia carjacked a motorist and made a break for a nearby apartment complex. After exiting the vehicle, ‍Garcia began ⁢firing at the officers again ⁤and struck a second officer multiple times, according to law enforcement.

The 28-year-old then barricaded himself in ⁤the apartment⁣ complex where the standoff took place, with SWAT and the Negotiations Team ‌working the situation. After multiple hours the suspect was eventually taken into custody.

Besides the outstanding warrants, Garcia was⁣ charged with five counts of Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer, Aggravated Kidnapping and Aggravated Robbery. His total bond amount for all charges together is set at over $3 ⁣million.

The SAPD said in a Facebook post⁤ on Friday, the officers who were injured are now in stable condition.

“At the end of the day, we ‍all want to go home,”⁤ said‌ SAPD Sgt. Washington Moscoso on Thursday night. “We Know the risks associated with our job. Today was one of those days where two officers didn’t go home at the end of their shift, hopefully they will soon.”
