Planned Parenthood Sued For Selling Abortion Drug As ‘Safe’

A new lawsuit filed by Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey accuses Planned Parenthood Federation of America of endangering the lives of women and girls by falsely claiming that the abortion drug regimen, primarily involving mifepristone, is safer than common over-the-counter medications like Tylenol. The suit alleges that Planned Parenthood engaged in deceptive advertising through various channels, violating Missouri law. Studies cited in the lawsuit indicate that serious or life-threatening complications occur in about 11% of women who use the abortion pill-considerably higher than FDA estimates-and that many related hospital visits are misclassified as miscarriages. The lawsuit claims Planned Parenthood encouraged women to conceal the true cause of their emergencies to avoid scrutiny. Pro-life groups have praised the legal action, viewing it as a stand for clarity and women’s safety, while Planned Parenthood has yet to respond.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America is on the hook for “endangering the lives of women and girls across the country” by claiming the dangerous and deadly abortion drug regimen used to execute a majority of U.S. abortions is “safer” than over-the-counter medications such as Tylenol, according to a new lawsuit.

According to Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, who is suing the abortion giant on behalf of Missourians who obtained abortion pills from the organization in the last five years, Planned Parenthood’s deceptive promotion of the dangerous abortion drug regimen is a “blatant violation of Missouri law.” The group’s false advertising occurs through website pages, “direct mailings, emails, press releases, public statements, testimony to the legislature, and court documents,” according to the suit.

“The national Planned Parenthood organization is actively endangering the lives of women and girls across the country by spreading lies and disinformation about the powerful chemical abortion drug,” Bailey said in a statement.

🚨BREAKING: I am launching a NEW lawsuit against Planned Parenthood Federation of America for their lies about dangerous chemicals that kill and maim.

Studies show that the abortion lobby’s attempt to paint mifepristone as less harmful than Tylenol is not backed by science. In fact, the rate at which women suffer serious or life-threatening complications after taking the abortion drug is 11 percent.

That number is already 22 times higher than the Food and Drug Administration claims, but could be even greater due to hospitals miscoding a majority of abortion drug-related emergency room visits as miscarriages. As the lawsuit notes, “Planned Parenthood tells women they can mislead doctors and falsely tell doctors that the cause of the emergency was something other than abortion” to protect the pill from scrutiny.

Planned Parenthood’s promotion of chemical abortion not only appears to have made it a key player in popularizing the pregnancy-ending pills, effectively fueling a rapid rise in abortions, but also pushed “women in Cole County to spend money on abortion pills.”

“By facilitating transactions involving Cole County women specifically, and Missouri women more generally, Planned Parenthood Federation of America has purposefully availed itself of the privilege of conducting business in Missouri,” the lawsuit claims.

Bailey indicated he is suing the national abortion provider because he “will not allow a death factory to lie to Missouri women in pursuit of its radical agenda.”

Pro-life groups, which have long raised alarms about the risks posed to women and their babies by mifepristone, praised Bailey’s lawsuit

“Attorney General Bailey is modeling leadership for the rest of the country by standing up to the abortion lobby and fighting for truth, transparency and the safety of Missouri women. He’s showing real courage by holding Planned Parenthood accountable, and we applaud his bold action,” SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser said in a statement.

Planned Parenthood did not immediately respond to The Federalist’s request for comment.
