Hamas released the last 20 living hostages from Gaza to Israel on Monday, over two years after the war broke out in response to the terrorist group’s Oct. 7 attack on the Jewish state.
As the remaining hostages, all men under 50 years old, were transported back to their native country, their families greeted them upon their long-overdue return.

The hostage release was part of the Israel-Hamas peace deal that President Donald Trump announced last week. Israel agreed to release roughly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners and withdraw from parts of Gaza to a certain line in exchange for the remaining captives.
The bodies of 28 hostages are also expected to be returned, although only four will be handed over on Monday. The Hostage and Missing Families Forum called this a “blatant breach” of Hamas’s agreement with Israel.
Trump traveled to Israel on Sunday to mark the release of the hostages. On Monday, he met with the hostage families and addressed the Israeli Knesset in a lengthy speech marking the end of the war.
Trump is headed to Egypt, where he will be chairing a peace summit.
