PHOENIX—In a shocking incident, a man has been arrested after giving his 10-year-old son the reins of a pickup truck on a Phoenix-area freeway, authorities revealed on Sunday.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety officials reported that the young boy led troopers on a thrilling chase on Saturday afternoon, skillfully maneuvering the vehicle on State Route 101 in Scottsdale, weaving through traffic and exceeding speed limits, before finally being apprehended.

The Arizona DPS stated that the child’s 49-year-old father was present in the passenger seat during the incident. The Phoenix man has been taken into custody by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office on charges of endangerment, allowing a minor to operate a vehicle, and possessing an open container of alcohol in the truck.
A concerned motorist dialed 911 around 3:30 p.m., reporting a child behind the wheel on the freeway, prompting the DPS response.
A vigilant trooper spotted the truck and attempted to pull it over after witnessing unsafe lane changes by the driver.
Despite the trooper’s efforts, the truck refused to stop, leading to a pursuit until the young driver eventually pulled over in an emergency lane.
Remarkably, the 10-year-old boy will not face any charges, according to DPS officials.
As of now, there is no information available on whether the father remains in jail or has been released on bond.
