Pennsylvania introduces Outdoor Business Alliance
Pennsylvania Launches Outdoor Business Alliance to Boost Industry Collaboration
Pennsylvania’s newly established Office of Outdoor Recreation is setting the stage for a dynamic collaboration within the industry by allocating $200,000 to inaugurate the Outdoor Business Alliance. Governor Josh Shapiro expressed the critical need to prioritize investment in outdoor recreation during a recent address at Gilson Snow in Selinsgrove.
“The stronger our outdoor recreation economy is, the stronger our main streets are, and the stronger our towns are all across Pennsylvania.”
Shapiro emphasized the pivotal role of the alliance in fostering inter-company relationships that encourage local sourcing and partnerships, steering businesses away from seeking resources outside the state. The establishment of a comprehensive resource hub for regulatory guidance and marketing support aims to empower Pennsylvania businesses by enhancing their national market presence.
Fueling Pennsylvania’s Economic Growth Through Outdoor Recreation
Governor Shapiro’s administration is resolutely committed to propelling the outdoor recreation sector forward, evident in the launch of the OOR (Office of Outdoor Recreation) under the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The profound economic potential of the outdoor recreation industry, as highlighted by DCNR Secretary Cindy Dunn, underlines its significance as a key economic driver for the state.
“We gotta help our businesses get moving more quickly, and government in the past has been an impediment to that. Now we are working as your partners.”
The initiative not only aligns with state officials’ strategy to augment Pennsylvania’s competitive edge but also underscores the intrinsic value of the state’s natural landscapes in fostering innovation and economic prosperity. Dunn accentuated Pennsylvania’s abundant natural assets, ranging from majestic parks and forests to scenic mountains and extensive trail systems, as the cornerstone of the outdoor recreation industry’s growth.
Director of the OOR, Nathan Reigner, highlighted the pivotal role of outdoor-connected businesses in driving Pennsylvania’s economy by generating employment opportunities and cultivating reputable brands that resonate with local pride.
The Outdoor Business Alliance emerges as a catalyst for fostering a vibrant ecosystem of outdoor-related enterprises, ranging from quaint ice cream parlors to craft breweries, as well as leveraging the artistic essence of individuals engaged in outdoor recreation activities.
As Pennsylvania embarks on this collaborative journey to amplify its outdoor industry presence, the ethos of unity and innovation resonates as the driving force behind the state’s economic resurgence.
