Pence on Ramaswamy’s Israel comments: He’s indecisive.
Former Vice President Mike Pence Criticizes Vivek Ramaswamy’s Contradictory Statements on Israel
During an interview with Fox News host Shannon Bream on “Fox News Sunday,” former Vice President Mike Pence expressed his criticism towards fellow Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. Pence accused Ramaswamy of having a “pattern” where he “goes one direction, then goes back another direction.”
Bream played a clip of Ramaswamy stating that he fully supports Israel militarily, despite previously expressing his desire to cut off aid to Israel and other countries. Ramaswamy clarified his stance by emphasizing the importance of preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and working with Israel towards that goal. However, he also expressed his concern about risking the lives of U.S. troops in a potential conflict.
Ramaswamy claimed that he had asked Pence and other candidates about their willingness to sacrifice U.S. soldiers in the event of a conflict, but received no response. Bream, aware of Pence’s family members serving in the military, asked for his reaction to Ramaswamy’s remarks.
Pence responded by criticizing Ramaswamy’s foreign policy positions on Israel, Taiwan, and Russia. While he acknowledged not having a personal issue with Ramaswamy, Pence firmly believed that Ramaswamy was “just wrong on foreign policy.”
“Candidly, this is a bit of a pattern for Vivek,” Pence stated. “He kind of goes one direction, then goes back another direction. I don’t understand how we can fully support Israel and simultaneously impose limits on our military involvement in defending Israel against an attack by Iran.”
