Pelosi Goes Maskless Indoors At Bar, Violates D.C. Mask Mandate: Report

On Tuesday night, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has championed mask mandates in the past, apparently violated the indoor mask mandate implemented by Washington D.C. mayor Muriel Bowser as she went maskless indoors at a bar.

Video obtained by The Daily Caller shows Pelosi with Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY) in a bar called “Swingers.”

The  Washington D.C. indoor mask mandate, as updated on September 23, reads:

Masking rules:

Everyone (including fully vaccinated people) must wear masks:

UPDATE: in indoor public settings

This includes any business or establishment open to members of the public (including but not limited to: grocery stores, restaurants and bars (when not eating or drinking), places of worship, gyms, office buildings, libraries, indoor entertainment venues, and common areas of apartment or condominium complexes).

On Tuesday, Bowser announced that on Monday, November 22, the District’s indoor mask mandate would be lifted, writing:

Instead of following a blanket mandate, residents, visitors, and workers will be advised to follow risk-based guidance from DC Health that accounts for current health metrics and a person’s vaccination status. Updated guidance will be posted on coronavirus.dc.gov in the coming days. DC Health reminds residents that the strongest protection against COVID-19 is to get vaccinated, and encourages all people, regardless of vaccination status, to consider their risk factors and surroundings carefully when choosing layered mitigations strategies (e.g., wearing a mask, social distancing).

Masks will still be required, regardless of vaccination status, in the following circumstances:

Any private business that wants a mask requirement; On public transport like buses and trains, inside train stations, in airports, and while in ride share vehicles;Inside schools, childcare facilities, and libraries;Congregate facilities, such as nursing homes/assisted living facilities, shelters, dorms/residences, and correctional facilities; andIn DC Government facilities where there is direct interaction between employees and the public (e.g., DMV service center; DHS service center, etc.).

In late July, Pelosi ripped House minority leader Kevin McCarthy, saying, “He’s such a moron” after he had slammed Congress’s new mask requirement. McCarthy had tweeted, “Make no mistake — The threat of bringing masks back is not a decision based on science, but a decision conjured up by liberal government officials who want to continue to live in a perpetual pandemic state.”
