“It strikes me as quite ironic to hear Netanyahu condemn actions when he himself has a history of involving himself in our political affairs,” Pelosi asserted. “Setting that debate aside, we should consider the essence of democracy,” Pelosi continued. “What harm is there in standing for the principles of democratic elections? And as you’ve pointed out, Dana, we’ve seen the outpouring of passionate citizens protesting in Israeli streets. It’s a testament to a vibrant democracy where diverse opinions are welcomed and celebrated.”
Pelosi highlighted the importance of citizen voices in democratic societies, reflecting on Schumer’s perspective. “What message does it send if one isn’t willing to affirm that, especially as conflicts subside, the Israeli people should have their say? That’s the crux of Chuck’s remarks.”
