Rick Harrison, star of ‘Pawn Stars,’ attributes son’s death to border crisis
Rick Harrison Blames Border Crisis for Son’s Overdose Death
Rick Harrison, the lead in the hit reality show “Pawn Stars,” attributed his 39-year-old son’s tragic overdose death to the ongoing crisis along the southern border.
“Yes, I can confirm Adam died from a fentanyl overdose,” the 58-year-old businessman told the New York Post in a Monday statement. As TMZ reported earlier Monday, “the Harrison family found out on Friday that Adam died from a fatal overdose.”
“The fentanyl crisis in this country must be taken more seriously,” Harrison emphasized to the Post. “It seems it is just flowing over the borders and nothing is being done about it. We must do better.”
Fentanyl seizures by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have skyrocketed by 860 percent since 2019, according to ABC News.
Last week, House Republicans held their second impeachment hearing for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, focusing on his failures related to the border. Josephine Dunn, a witness at the hearing whose daughter died from fentanyl poisoning, also blamed the administration’s open-border policies for her family tragedy.
“In my humble opinion, Mr. Mayorkas’ border policy is partially responsible for my daughter’s death,” Dunn stated.
On Monday, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Biden administration in a contentious Texas case where state officials opposed the federal government’s efforts to remove razor wire along the border. The court’s decision, with a 5-4 vote, allowed the federal government to dismantle the state-installed barrier along the Rio Grande in Eagle Pass. Justices Neil Gorsuch, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and Brett Kavanaugh formed the minority who would have prevented the administration from removing the border barriers.
December marked a new record for the number of migrant encounters in a single month, with over 300,000 reported. According to the House Homeland Security Committee, under Biden’s leadership, there have been at least 1.7 million known “gotaways” who have evaded Border Patrol and entered the country, with even more going undetected. In fiscal year 2023, 169 individuals caught attempting to cross illegally were on the terrorist watchlist.

Axios reported on Monday that the House Homeland Security Committee is expected to draft four articles of impeachment against Mayorkas on January 30.
“The panel aims to swiftly proceed with the impeachment of [Mayorkas] over his handling of border policy, with a potential floor vote as early as early February,” Axios stated.
Texas Rep. Michael McCaul, chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, expressed his belief that Mayorkas will be impeached after this month.
“The founding fathers talked about breach of public trust being sufficient for impeachment, and we intend to move forward,” McCaul said. ”Chairman Mark Green is doing an excellent job. We’re collaborating. Articles of impeachment will be drafted on January 31st, and we will proceed with the impeachment after that.”

The border crisis has become a hot topic of debate, as it continues to have devastating consequences for families across the country. Rick Harrison, the well-known lead in the hit reality show ”Pawn Stars,” recently spoke out about the tragic overdose death of his 39-year-old son, Adam, and attributed it to the ongoing crisis along the southern border. Harrison’s heartbreaking loss serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need to address the drug trafficking and violence that is plaguing our nation.
Harrison confirmed that his son died from a fentanyl overdose, a drug that has wreaked havoc across the United States. Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that is significantly more potent than heroin, has contributed to a surge in overdose deaths in recent years. According to reports, fentanyl seizures by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have skyrocketed by 860 percent since 2019. This alarming increase highlights the urgent need for action to secure our borders and prevent the flow of lethal drugs into our communities.
The blame for the crisis cannot solely be placed on one individual or administration. However, it is crucial to hold those responsible accountable for their failures. Last week, House Republicans held their second impeachment hearing for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, focusing on his failures related to the border. Josephine Dunn, a witness at the hearing who also tragically lost her daughter to fentanyl poisoning, blamed the administration’s open-border policies for her family tragedy. These heart-wrenching stories underscore the far-reaching consequences of unchecked drug trafficking and the need for immediate action.
The Supreme Court’s recent ruling, in favor of the Biden administration, allowed the federal government to dismantle state-installed barriers along the border. The decision was contentious, with four justices dissenting. This ruling sends a concerning message about the importance of border security and the ability of law enforcement to do their job effectively. It is essential that we prioritize the safety and security of our citizens by providing the necessary tools and resources to those responsible for protecting our borders.
The numbers speak for themselves. December marked a new record for the number of migrant encounters in a single month, with over 300,000 reported. Under Biden’s leadership, there have been at least 1.7 million known “gotaways” who have evaded Border Patrol and entered the country, with even more going undetected. These alarming statistics highlight the magnitude of the crisis and the urgent need for comprehensive immigration reform.
Moreover, in fiscal year 2023, 169 individuals caught attempting to cross illegally were on the terrorist watchlist. This terrifying reality showcases the potential national security risks associated with an unsecured border. It is imperative that we address these vulnerabilities and prioritize the safety of our nation.
The tragic loss of Rick Harrison’s son serves as a painful reminder of the devastating impact of the border crisis. It is time for our leaders to come together and prioritize the safety and security of American citizens. We must take swift and decisive action to secure our borders, prevent drug trafficking, and protect our communities from the deadly consequences of illegal drug use.
Families should not have to suffer the heartbreak of losing loved ones to a crisis that can be addressed. Let us honor the memory of those lost by working together to find effective solutions and restore the security and well-being of our nation. The time for action is now.
