Israeli woman killed by Palestinian gunmen in West Bank.
Israeli Woman Killed in Suspected Palestinian Shooting Attack
An Israeli woman was tragically killed in a suspected Palestinian shooting attack near the West Bank city of Hebron on Monday, according to the Israeli military.
Israel’s ambulance service reported that an Israeli man, who was also seriously wounded in the incident, has been transferred to the hospital. Remarkably, a six-year-old child who was in the car remained unharmed.
The military has taken immediate action by setting up roadblocks and launching a search operation for the suspects, who allegedly fired from a passing vehicle.
Hazem Qassem, a spokesperson for the Islamist Hamas group that governs blockaded Gaza, praised the attack, stating that it was a response to Israel’s ongoing assaults on Palestinians.
It is worth noting that Israeli forces were already in pursuit of a Palestinian suspected of shooting and killing two Israelis just two days prior.
Cabinet minister Bezalel Smotrich condemned the act of terrorism, emphasizing that it should not be tolerated. He vowed to ensure that the appropriate decisions are made to address the situation.
Shortly after the shooting, reports emerged of Israeli troops entering a village near the city of Nablus, resulting in clashes with stone-throwing Palestinians. Medical officials confirmed that eight people were wounded by Israeli fire, with one in serious condition. The Israeli army is currently verifying these reports.
In Gaza, a crowd of Palestinians gathered near the border fence with Israel to commemorate the anniversary of a 1969 arson attack on Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque.
The Israeli army reported that “hundreds of rioters” were present near the fence, some of whom were hurling explosive devices and rocks. In response, soldiers used sniper fire and riot dispersal methods. The Palestinians reported two individuals wounded by Israeli fire.
No Sign of Revival for Peace Talks
U.S.-brokered peace talks, aimed at establishing a Palestinian state in the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem, collapsed in 2014 and show no signs of revival.
