Poll: Majority of Voters Find Sexually Explicit Images in ‘Gender Queer’ Inappropriate
Over 90% of Voters Find Explicit Content in “Gender Queer” Book Inappropriate for Public School Libraries
A recent poll reveals that more than 90% of voters believe that the sexually explicit cartoons and descriptions found in the book “Gender Queer” are not suitable for public school libraries. This graphic novel, which includes depictions of sex acts between males, masturbation, and other explicit content, has sparked outrage among parents across the country.
The poll, conducted by Republican polling firm WPA Intelligence and provided to The Daily Wire, found that 93% of respondents found the book’s images of “people putting their mouths up to other people’s genitals” inappropriate. Additionally, 91% of participants deemed the book’s illustrations and descriptions of sexual activities between men and a boy’s sexual fantasies inappropriate. Furthermore, 90% of respondents found the book’s depictions and descriptions of anal insertion inappropriate.
Interestingly, Republicans were more likely than Democrats to express their disapproval of the book’s content in public school libraries. While less than 90% of Democrats found any of the book’s graphic images and descriptions inappropriate, a significant majority of all age groups, races, and genders agreed that the content was unsuitable for public school libraries.
Maia Kobabe, the author of “Gender Queer,” who identifies as non-binary and uses the pronouns “e, em, and eir,” has even stated that the book is not recommended for children, despite being mistakenly labeled as a children’s book. Kobabe originally wrote the book for her parents and older teens who were already grappling with questions about their own identities.
It is worth noting that ”Gender Queer” has faced challenges in various school districts across the country as parents have become aware of its availability to their children.
The WPA Intelligence poll surveyed 1,005 registered voters from September 15 to 18.
