‘One Tree Hill’ actress confesses to 10 years in a cult, followed by a decade of recovery.
Actress Bethany Joy Lenz Reveals Past Involvement in a Cult
Popular actress Bethany Joy Lenz, known for her role in “One Tree Hill,” recently opened up about a dark chapter in her life. She confessed that she spent a decade of her life in a cult and another ten years recovering from the experience.
Lenz, who has recently appeared in Hallmark Channel movies, shared this revelation on the “Drama Queens” podcast alongside her fellow “One Tree Hill” alums Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton Morgan.
During the podcast, Lenz expressed her desire to write about her cult experience, stating, “That would be a really valuable experience to write about, and the recovery — 10 years of recovery after that. So, there’s a lot to tell.”
The talented actress admitted that she had started documenting her experiences but struggled to piece it all together due to her ADHD. She added, “ADHD has made it really difficult over the years. If I could ever really commit to putting it all together, I would love to write about my experience.”
However, Lenz acknowledged the challenges she might face in writing about her past, particularly concerning the involvement of other people. She emphasized the importance of getting the details right while also staying within legal boundaries.
Lenz and her co-stars recently made headlines by accusing “One Tree Hill” showrunner Mark Schwahn of misconduct. They claimed that Schwahn threatened Bush and Burton Morgan with job loss if they refused to participate in a provocative photo shoot for Maxim magazine. Lenz herself was told by Schwahn that she was “too fat” for the shoot.
